Then make them pay $7m. It did not benefit us in any way to make the announcement as early as we did.

LSU was not and should not go into a bidding war with a coach.

This is why we have fricking Orgeron.

Texas was willing to pay whatever it took to get him.

Then make them do it. They hired to hottest young coach on the market for $1 million more than we hired Orgeron.

If anything we should have put all this effort into Fisher. Herman is unproven and lost some games he should have won. The Louisville blowout was just diminished by Kentucky. Kentucky Let that sink in.

He is 6-6 against top 25 teams at Houston. He isnt at a powerhouse program where his players can coast to wins on talent alone against shitty teams

Yall are really complaining that he lost to a few shitty teams? He is at Houston! What would orgeron's record be coaching at Houston with a bunch of shitty coordinators and a WR for a quarterback?

Why are people pissed bc LSU did not go into a bidding war with Texas over Herman? He was not coming. If LSU fired Miles last year and hired Herman last year more than likely he would have bolted for Texas just like Kiffin did going from UT to USC. Texas was going to throw whatever money it took to get Herman. Would not have made a difference in the money except make Herman and his agent richer. I accept the hire of O but I do have concerns based on what happened in the Bama game as well UF game. If he can bring in a top OC, keep the recruiting at a high level, keep Aranda, and learn from his past mistakes he can be successful. Time will tell.

Let's give 6 million to a unproven coach.

What evidence leads you to believe that Texas would pay whatever it took for Herman?

Other than "because they can"

That's the way weak, second rate programs think. I'm glad Joe Alleva has clarified where we belong, and even bragged about it.

Unproven? He is 6-6 against top 25 teams at Houston. What more can he do to prove himself?

Orgeron is the only one who is unproven as a winning head coach. Interim jobs don't count.

Because there is no evidence to suggest they would not pay whatever it takes to go after Herman. That is where Herman wanted to go. If deals are similar, he is going to Texas. That is where he got his coaching start. He wanted Texas.

Not really. His comments were all about Texas being his dream job so I doubt he would have come to LSU unless Texas didn't have a vacancy. If he had come to LSU he would have jumped to Texas in a few years anyway so good we didn't get him.

That is the kicker...He accepted the money and then tried to hold LSU up for more...I would have told him to go somewhere...but it aint close to Texas!!

So if he was Texas bound why didn't we make Texas fricking pay for him? That would leave less money to go after Aranda

Herman was never going anywhere other than Austin.

You may not like it, but it's the truth. He has played two SEC teams to get where he is. The man was destined to coach UT.

This what I heard too. It makes me sick to see so many on here just assuming that we couldn't have won Herman over. Alleva didn't even try. We are the laughingstock of college football yet again. Our program doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence with Alabama. The culture of excellence that Mark Emmert and Saban established is long gone.
