Because he has made so many hires

I seriously doubt Skip is gonna roll alone on this. It's gonna probably involve a bunch of folks.

True, but he obviously went the cheap route on Miles. What is going to be different this time?

From what everybody seems to say he won't have a whole lot of say in this one.

I think Skip knows he can't afford to go the cheap route. When Saban left, LSU was probably a top 15 job. Now with the 3 straight 10 win season, I think it's safe to say it's a top 7 job. Bertman, O'Keefe and Lombardi all know they need to shoot high, because this time they can afford to.

The football program is as healthy as it has ever been, I think we can afford to get set our sights high even with Stanley running the show.

I would bet LSU goes the cheap route! Past hx doesn't lie!

There might not be a lot of big named Coaches available

Not sure I understand why a coach has to be paid so much...the top three coaches (weis, ferentz and saban) have not so stellar records this season
I can see y money is important though for the perception of getting a "cheap" or "lacking" coach if they're underpaid here at LSU with all of our TAF contributions...

LSU must pony up 3.5 plus to be taken seriously in my opinion. If we can get a coach with a BCS Conference or National title on his resume, then obviously we are looking at 4.0 for a big name.
I think we'll see the a much safer hire in the 2.8 range and he won't be a marquis name. I just hope it's a legit up and comer with some W's by his name and experience both building and maintaining a program.
