If Lane Kiffin were our #1 target I don't think we'd have fired Kelly so soon. We'd have held onto him until Ole Miss' season ended and then fired him and courted Lane quickly.

What if lsu wanted to get into the lane sweepstakes before him and Florida got really close? Idk

This was nothing about a certain coach imo. This was about kelly being hard headed and almost wanting to be let go.

Agreed we got rid of Kelly because of Kelly. I believe we did it now because it sounds like he was being a dick about suggested changes so there’s the door. But it also could have factored in to do it now IF they feel lane is their guy. I’m not even sure he is. I’m not a fan of him coming here, but he’d likely do pretty good here if he hired a good DC.

He was also last second heroic tipped pass for TD away from losing to a below avg Army team two weeks ago. Of course its a game of inches.

With the exception of Northwestern and Ole Miss all of the games have been a lot closer than probably should have been.

Sumrall would benefit by staying put for another year or two, hiring a better OC and hire some old timer (like a Jerry Kill) as some sort of assistant to help mold him into a better head coach.

For all the people who keep mentioning Sumrall, aren't y'all worried he's just Napier 2.0? Why do you have so much more faith in Sumrall to be successful when Napier failed?

Because Sumrall isn't Napier. Have you listened to interviews? Have you seen the results?

2022 - Troy 12-2
2023 - Troy 11-2
2024 - Tulane 9-5
2025 - Tulane 6-1 (good chance of going 11-1 plus bowl/conf champ, playoffs)

So a potential 45-11 fiery coach who WILL be hired by a big name program this year. Yeah, he sucks...

As someone else mentioned, it would be really dumb for LSU to scratch anyone off the list based on their current team. As far as Sumrall goes, currently, he is 38-10 as a head coach. He has coached at 2 different schools and had really good success at both. He is young and currently has Tulane at 6-1 and possibly going to finish with either 1 or 2 losses. In his 4 seasons as head coach, he has averaged about 2 losses a year! I'm not saying he should be the hire, I'm just saying he shouldn't be overlooked simply because he is at Tulane!

Go listen to a post-game presser, or any interview, of each and the difference will be obvious to you.

No matter who LSU hires it’s obvious the division between fans will be alive and well moving forward.Tiger fans can’t except hiring a coach who the don’t want. The negitive posts will live on in infamy.
