You still think that NFL coaching is equal to NCAA and even Big Sky Conference coaching? You're so cute.
__________

And you still can't answer a question? What makes him so good?

A young guy with more NFl ties than you can imagine who has been moderately successful as a head coach in by far the highest level of football and has put together some top notch NFL defenses. Experience in the NFL > experience at Boise or Oklahoma State. Look at the defensive guys from the NFL that have come down to college and dominated. A guy like Saban was less successful than Del Rio in the NFl but can dominate the SEC like its a joke. Its like Bobby Fischer going play checkers against some old men on the corner.

Do you really think Del Rio is not a good candidate or would be a worse hire than Chris Petersen or someone of that ilk?

Well JDR certainly knows football, specifically defense. As such, I would expect him to be "hands on" with at least the defense. If he he can recruit AT ALL (which I expect he would judging from his public personna), he would be an upgrade over a head coach who apparently recruits and nothing more.

For every Saban there is an Al Groh. Just because they are in the NFL does not necessarily mean they would succeed in college or be a top notch coach. I doubt most Tiger fans would get excited about Tom Cable.

I do think Petersen wold be a better hire. He has a better track record of success --- including a very good record against BCS schools. Remember, hiring coaches from smaller conferences has worked lately. If you need examples see Urban Meyer and Jim Tressel.
