I'm not dismissing his stint at Ole Miss, but let's not dismiss what he's accomplished of late.

I agree. If you say he's a "proven loser" you also have to say he's a proven winner in his recent stints as head coach. He had 3 bad years at ole miss 10 years ago. Why do people think it's impossible for him to improve?

You pay big money for Harbaugh and Saban. Not for Herman.

I'd rather gamble on greatness than settle for mediocrity. Highly unlikely Herman would be worse than Orgeron even if he underperformed. However I do believe Herman was using us for leverage since Texas can easily match anything we can offer.

The point is Michigan, Alabama, and Ohio State hired the best coach they could possibly hire.

Harbaugh and Saban were on their way out of the NFL and Meyer was available. To compare Herman to them shows how fricking stupid you really are. With a good OC and Aranda as D.C., Coach O can be very successful at LSU.

OP, Michigan is paying Harbaugh more money than Saban. Now how stupid is that? Fisher wanted a 10 yr contract, longer than Saban has ever had. Now how stupid is that?

Shut. The. frick. Up. with that crap. You are just as mediocre as our administration. And you are the stupid one, not me.

Harbaugh was a perennial playoff head coach that brought the 49ers to the god damned Super Bowl, and other NFL teams were clamoring to hire him. Michigan got him anyway. Why? Because they payed him enough to lure him away from the NFL.

Nick Saban was blacklisted from the NFL for the way he left the Dolphins. If he was on his way out, then why were people in the Dolphins organization so livid with how he left them hanging? Why was Saban willing to be black-listed? Because Alabama payed him.

It's obvious that LSU was not willing to pay. I'm not even asking for a Saban, or a Meyer, or a Harbaugh. I am just asking for the best possible hire. Again, you are crazy if you believe that Ed Orgeron is the best possible hire.

You are frickING dumb!!!

Harbaugh was on his way out as he and the 49ers general manager hated each other. He is the highest paid coach in college ball AND is a MICHIGAN MAN!!! Saban was disenfranchised with pro ball plus his missus wanted to go back to the college level as well. She supposedly felt isolated and was happier in the campus community. Meyer sat out due to health concerns and was available when tOSU came calling. This is well known information about these situations. As for hiring the best available, it's obviously not O in your mind. So who...Fisher? He got blown out by a team that lost to Kentucky at home. Kentucky!
Herman? He lost to USM who got 75 points hung up on them by Navy. We are talking about a triple option team that scored on EVERY possession. Excuse me, they scored a TD on every possession. Yet the offensive guru at Houston lost to them? Maybe Fedora? Hmmm, he was playing for a spot in the conference title game yet shite the bed in the home finale versus a hated in state rival. In short, every coach you list other than Saban has holes in the resume including this season. Support who you want. As for me, I will support the Tigers and Coach O. If he shits the bed, I will call for his arse to be fired on here. However, unlike some of the morons on here, I hope he is successful.

Harbaugh is a UM alum. He is a proven commodity who couldn't wait for his chance to go back to Ann Arbor.

Pollack is a douchewaffle. He'll knock LSU whenever he has a chance.

You're kind of clueless because you didn't recognize any of the above before posting this shite.

And Michigan still can't beat OSU so the rivalry isn't great just yet.

Our guys are just not willing to spend as much as the Michigans and Alabamas of college football.

16 years near the top of the mountain will help solve this problem over time.

As a younger generation accustomed to championship caliber success gains their wealth, the "booster class" will start to shift towards demanding excellence.

Also remember, Michigan hired Brady Hoke before they hired Harbaugh. CEO gives LSU 2-3 years to make some money, pay off Miles and get ready to make another big run if they want to.

Michigan didn't "go get" Harbaugh. It was as much luck and timing as anything. Everyone knew Harbaugh was out in San Fran and Michigan needed a coach because they made a cheap hire. Same with OSU and Bama. They needed a coach at the right time.

Paying for Harbaugh who built the 9ers into a powerhouse snd paying Herman who lost 3 games at Houston are not the same

There was little to no doubt that Harbaugh would succeed
