Aranda recruits just fine and will only get better the more established he becomes as a Head Coach.
Baylors recruiting rankings before Aranda
2015 36
2016 40
2017 40
2018 29
2019 35
2020 50
His two classes that were solely him
2021 41
2022 32
He is at or better than the average class for the Baylor program. If he was not a good recruiter these numbers would be much worse. He wont be pulling in classes in the 30's when recruiting for LSU

He's beating the people that are out recruiting him.

Somehow these shitty ideas will themselves into existence in people's head.
Or Baylor has had objectively shitty recruiting rankings. Just saying it’s a myth doesn’t just magically make his recruiting classes better. He’s more committed to coaching rather than recruiting. Idk how much it will fall off but, it will fall with Aranda.
You are not going to beat Alabama and UGA with inferior recruiting/talent

No matter the coach...doesnt mean he cant recruit, some programs have a certain level that it is very difficult to rise above. Saban (not saying Aranda is Saban) wasnt pulling top 5 classes on the reg when he was at Michigan State, was he a bad recruiter then?

I guess the board doesn't realize Saban is one of the most boring recruiters. Do you know why it works for Saban? He's winning. If Aranda is winning, the same recruiting results will follow.

I thought LSU recruits itself? This can be fixed with a few new recruiting coaches.
You know how Bear recruited at the end. he walked into the house shook hands and says son i would like to see you at bama.

quote:wrong even his first year or so at LSU when we weren’t the household name and we’re losing in state recruits to teams like Florida state, he was able to recruit and keep the in state guys. We were getting top recruiting classes before we won a NC. You might think he’s boring based of interviews with the same generic questions he’s asked weekly, but he’s not. Especially when he was at LSU

The three seasons before 2003

To further present the ceileing on the Baylor program as far as recruiting, this is the Art Biles tenure, what has to be the peak of the program ( i dont know enough to be that certain)
2008 58
2009 53
2010 38
2011 46
2012 26
2013 27
2014 25
2015 36
Even Briles wasnt exactly pulling in all world classes. Aranda would pull at least top 10 classes at LSU every season, probably higher

He just isn’t good at it. I’ve seen names flash on here a bunch, he wasn’t the primary recruiter for a vast majority of those guys. Dave just isn’t good in the living room. Ask around, it’s pretty well known.
From what people have said, Dave is good in the living roomZ parents and players like him, he’s just not the guy beating the pavement every day texting this kids about every little thing and building those personal relationships you hear recruits talk about.
We’ve seen him do well as a secondary recruiter, but he needs position coaches who can go out and do the leg work.

Exactly. Saban is a great recruiter because he wins and has a great message about success and advancement to the NFL. He's not a great recruiter because he is flamboyant or a great salesman, because he's not.
In fact, he's a borderline sociopath who is very awkward around people.
Comparing Aranda to Mullen is also a joke. Mullen hates recruiting and thinks he is "above" it and is smart enough to overcome the talent disparity.
Aranda has never had any similar claim made about him.

quote:you do realize the 2003 class was the class before we won a championship right? They were freshman during that run. And that 2003 class was another top 2 class
The three seasons before 2003
And for the dumbasses downvoting for example Justin Vincent is a part of that 2003 class. You know the same Justin Vincent that balled out during the SEC championship game that same year we won a Natty for the 2003 season

I’d far rather have average players playing above their rating than great players looking like they are fricking lost on the field or barely trying.
then don't expect to ever win the SEC. You don't do that with average players.

You don’t do it without someone who can actually coach either

I really don’t think most of you understand how below average Dave is at recruiting.
When you can't beat'em, lie about them continuously.
There's nothing weak about: Marcel Brooks, Kristian Fulton, Kelvin Joseph, Tyler Shelvin, Phillip Webb, Jacob Phillips, Ed Alexander, BJ Olujari, more DA recruits.
I know you and your hit squad like to highlight recruiting, but along with intellect, coaching abilities and integrity, Dave also develops players. See the 3* Wisconsin recruits into NFL Draftees.
The NFL loves Dave's "below average" recruits.
O is only a recruiter. A $9M/yr Recruiter. Congratulations on the results. Smart fans want a CEO to run the program. Not a recruiter.
ETA: Most top recruiters are position coaches like O. Not HC and Coordinators. Top Recruiters
