Mullen wouldn't be at the top of my list, but it'd be a decent hire imo

I would be fine giving Mullen the job. of course, I would be in the minority.

Got them to there pinnacle faster than any other team ever. Then got them off the college football map even faster. Think about it. Miles 2.0
He's at Mississippi State.

im sure ill be in minority but id be fine with Mullen. It's essentially impossible to be very good at Miss St. What he's done there is quite admirable. sure he had a crappy loss this year but even Saban lost to UAB and ULM.
Mullen isnt in my personal top few but i'd be fine and excited with him

I like Mullen as a 3rd or 4th option. He's done a hell of a job making MSU competitive

It wouldn't be a bad hire. He definitely knows what he is doing. Just wonder how he would do with recruiting. He seems to be getting his arse kicked in recruiting by Freeze (of course Freeze had that movie thing to promote him). HOw would Mullen go over with Louisiana High school players?

He recruited and developed an NFL caliber QB from Louisiana and LSU fans constantly complained about Miles' mismanagement of QBs.

yes, but that's just one guy that most everyone overlooked, coaches and recruiting sites, who LSU was late to get in on. LSU finally saw he had talent as a QB but Dak was loyal to his first big time suiter.
But not arguing at all that Mullen can't recognize or develop talent, just wonder if he can consistently land big time talent at LSU at the level that the more charismatic Miles was able to.

Is s Bama whore. So I assume that is who Saban wants up to hire

Way down on my list, and certainly not a sexy or headline grabbing hire, but I bet Mullen would do okay at LSU.
I don't think you fire Les Miles to go get Dan Mullen though. If you fire Les Miles, you aren't taking no as an answer from one of your Top3 targets. Orrrr, probably more likely, you already have your next guy lined up.

Houston ain't getting in the 12.

Not disagreeing with you, but Where are you seeing this? Everything I've heard is they're likely in.

I don't see them being voted in. Four Texas schools already who will not want to have to compete with them for recruits anymore than they already have to.
They are not a very large fanbase and even though Houston is a large TV audience, most of those people already tune in to one or more of the other 4 Texas teams. I think they would more likely want to try to get in on a new TV audience like Cincinnati.

Makes sense, but I've actually heard the opposite... The Texas schools are the ones that want Houston in and it's the non-Texas schools that are putting up resistance.

I don't know why everyone feels like Mullen isn't a good football coach. What he's done at f'n Moo State is pretty remarkable. IMO. At one point, he had them ranked #1 in the country. MISSISSIPPI STATE. Y'all are right, though. He has a mediocre record at that football powerhouse in Starkville, MS. He isn't my top choice, but I'd choose him before Kiffin, Briles, Petrino and some of the other asshats that have been mentioned in the last couple of days.

Mullen is young, energetic and made chx yyy out of chx xxx at MSU... Given their facilities, recruiting base/tradition, and they play in the SEC W...he has done well. He is an OFF type guy, and knows the SEC landscape, and how to recruit in this conference. Load him up with the right tools, assistants - what LSU provides - and I think he would do very well. He is a proven HC, and I think he is a 'bigger name' than LM was when we hired him. He would be a good choice for LSU.
He is also likely AVAILABLE right after the last game of the season. Make the hire, let him solidify his staff and get out on the recruiting trail finishing 2017 strong! Makes sense all around.
