Dandy Dons Take on Coach Hire

Yesterday, a lot of Tiger fans got their feathers ruffled when Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio and ESPN Radio gave his thoughts on LSU’s coaching search. Jones tweeted that his LSU source said the top three candidates for LSU’s head coaching job were Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher, Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brian and Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops.
Let me tell you what I’m confident in saying about this after speaking to two longtime trusted sources:
1. I’ll start with the most important and most rock-solid fact: There are only three people who know all the facts about LSU’s search: LSU athletic director Scott Woodward, Executive Deputy Stephanie Rempe and Executive Deputy Verge Ausberry. And they are tight-lipped.
2. Matt Jones’ source is wrong. Bill O’Brian and Mark Stoops are not high on LSU’s list.
3. Jimbo Fisher has already emphatically denied any interest in leaving Texas A&M and I believe him. Sure, coaches lie, but his type of denial is not the kind you walk back.
4. There are reports suggesting that LSU offered Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley $96M for eight years and that the ball is in his court. I was told that is not true. My personal take is that does not rule him out, but the idea that LSU put an official offer out and is now waiting on his response is not accurate.
5. I’m not discounting the possibility of LSU’s next head coach being somebody off the radar, so to speak. Whether or not that’s the case, I remain confident in Woodward making a strong hire, and I get the impression LSU likes where it stands right now.

I can confirm that my Cousins source is one of the 3 people in the Dept mentioned of the 3 and he/she is very tight lipped on this and he/she has always given information. This is top secret.

Have a ton of respect for Scott...that’s it.

Riley wasn’t even offered…. Scott is playing mind games with us folks. And I am fricking here for it.

GOAT, would be the ultimate.

Riley not having an official offer doesn’t mean Riley is mind games or smoke. People talk terms and if they agree only then is it memorialized into a formal offer.

If the 3 people in the know are so tight lipped, how does he know M Stoops & BOB aren’t candidates? And how does he know Riley wasn’t offered a deal?

That list is garbage. That’s how

I think this will play out like the baseball search when thought it was gonna be Bianco or the Oregon St guy. Two names we don’t hear jack about are Fickel and Cristobal, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was either of those two.

I spoke to Verge at the UHigh game last night. I said please not BoB. He laughed and said I hope it doesn’t come to that.
That’s all I got

He's Don Long's kid man...he knows stuff!

That’s BS . He was offered

So he said only 3 know what’s going on and they are tight lipped but he knows facts about the search.
Seems false.
Seems false.

I do not see anything that claims an offer was not extended ... just that were not waiting on Linc to decide.
Maybe he's already decided

So these are the only 3 people in on the search??? He’s missing a few people

But then goes on to say that Matt Jones source is wrong.
If no one knows anything, then they cannot deny someone’s sources either.
But I relish the term, tight-lipped.
Search is going fine.
