Current Offensive staff + hiring O-coordinator from the outside

Being an O-coordinator is more than just calling plays on gameday. Maybe these offensive gurus aren't impressed with our entire offensive staff and don't want to be reliant on them and hook their cart onto the Coach O wagon, which could go down in flames if he is not successful.

Man if this is true, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

When you created my user name in 2003, you gave me that girlie name dumbass. :)

My sources were all gone years ago. By reading the board, I would expect LSU to be at the same level as Bama. Reality showed me last year that elite coaches aren't lining up to coach here, and I bet the same goes for elite coordinators. If they are that good, I'd assume they are in a good place in their career and don't want to risk it to come to work for LSU with a staff they may never have worked with before. I know money talks, but if we may have to buy out Canada and just paid Aranda, how much is really being offered to them?

Just some thoughts I have right now....

i thought it was appropriate.

Ensminger is the safe/easy hire, just like O was last year. Hiring a stranger (Canada) didn’t work out, so won’t be surprised if Ensminger gets promoted...

Hiring Ensminger is the opposite of safe. It will seal O’s fate

So they’re simpleminded enough to say this strategy didn’t work, so we’re gonna go back to another strategy that didn’t work.

Geez how did a major institution wind up with these “decision-makers?”

IYO what genetic crossbreeding would produce the best Offensive Coordinator?

If that is the case, I think we are screwed. Ceiling will be 8-9 wins every year IMO. Crazy how Coach O won't make a good hire when his job will depend on it. All he can do is "hope and pray" it works out, but I don't think it will in the long run.

I have no idea but would think you would need to be exposed to many different things and mesh it to your philosophy. And by exposed, I mean more than going to a coaching conference over the summer or hanging out with some offensive guru for a week in the offseason. They need to have lived it and been part of it to see how defenses try to stop it and what adjustments are made. But again, I have no idea.

You've got to give the OC the ability to replace assistants. OL and ensminger will be off limits. But my assumption is that Joseph and Robinson could be reassigned if an incoming OC wanted his own guys.

Seems like O would rather have a staff of recruiters over a staff that knows how to implement a modern offense.

Seems Alleva has a pretty dismal reputation in coaching circles. That can't help.

There are so many under the radar great offensive minds out there. If they were really serious about vetting candidates, they'd go after one of those guys that's looking for a come up.

They need to think outside the box. Hiring E would be status quo. There needs to be new blood and innovation injected to the offensive staff.
