First of all, Proposed, not signed. Secondly, it's Riley. I want Aranda, but it's Riley. And I'm good with that too.

This. Aranda isn’t my first choice, but everyone acting like this means he’s completely out is pretty funny. He’s got insurance now. Good for him, but with the right counter-offer, that unsigned contact isn’t worth shite.

My god

I like aranda and would like him as our coach but some of you have already christened him as this can’t miss football savant

The certainty some of you have that he is for sure so much greater than a guy like Napier after less than 2 seasons boggles my mind. He might be significantly better, he might fall flat on his face

The fact that you have convinced yourself that it’s Riley, aranda, or total unquestioned failure is ridiculous

Also that tweet means nothing

I'm really starting to worry how many chairs are left when the music stops. To go through all this and end up with Stoops would be....very disappointing.

He wasn’t because Woodward has had this locked up for some time now. Everyone needs to quit assuming the worst and jumping to conclusions

Does anyone really think an AD who is widely regarded as the best in America is just sitting back waiting for an answer while most other candidates are signing new deals with their current schools?

Come on guys.

So, you think LSU being touted as a top 5 job in the country and then hiring Mark Stoops or BOB is a good thing? I’m not saying he’s already struck out, but it’s just trending towards that. Riley might be the guy, or maybe Baylor is just trying to get Aranda to stay with the extension and raise. Either way, I’d they end up hiring a lower tier candidate, the search would be a let down for just about everyone.

“Big game hunter”, top 3 job….ending up with Stoops or Napier is an incredible fail

Which is the only reason his non-portable, B10 brand of football looks even remotely good. That bullshite will not work here.

Also, I don’t consider it a mark of a superior head coach to wait 5 years to “upgrade” your offense to 10th in the SEC in passing. That’s the mark of another stubborn guy who’s unwilling to change when it’s absolutely obvious to everyone else that it is necessary. Some of you want more of that bullshite here now?

Stoops needs to take a lesson from Dan Mullen and stay where he’s wanted and where his narrowly-focused style and mediocre results (in the grand scheme of things) will be acceptable to the fanbase

I believe Woodward was told to go after Riley, and that's what he did. He's running the play that was called for him by the boosters.

I don't think there's anything locked up. If OU wins out, it's out of Woodward's hands.

Reason I don't think Aranda was really in it is that nothing has actually changed. He wasn't told anything he didn't already know, he was never the #1 guy.

So you think he’s really sitting around waiting for an answer at this stage?

Well #1 I’d say Stoops is a much much much better option than BOB

#2 Given how rarely even a top 5 job pulls a head coach from another top tier program, and how specific even those circumstances have been with behind the scenes issues at the school the coach is leaving, no I don’t think it would be a bad look at all.

What do you think happens if OU wins out and they go to the playoffs?

I would be very good with this.

But how long will Napier wait before he has to do something else? (like UF)

Stoops does nothing for me.

They need a lot of help to get there.

Secondly, is it possible that it’s someone else not named Riley or Stoops or BOB?

Maybe LR has already signed the preliminary documents to take the job and has his own reasons that you guys don’t know.

So? In ten years having one break through while that side of the conference has been in a slump would be nice

If he wants LSU as badly as everyone says he does, then he’ll be willing to wait for confirmation about Riley.

Despite all the reports I doubt there’s an offer made and certainly not a done deal with Riley. At most, a MoU, and I find that unlikely. OU can pony up the money for him, but they’re not going to use sugar daddies like MSU did with Tucker so it’ll take longer to decide if they want to pay him 90-95m.

Woodward selling Napier would be hard because there’s so much damned pride involved.
