Another rumor, that was ultimately confirmed by Mrs Smart, was that SC and Kirby were negotiating a contract (as in, SC reps were in Smart's house ironing out details) when UGA fired Richt.

Kirby to the SC reps

Ever "[insert coach's name]'s wife looking at houses at [insert college town] the other day" thread is on par with the flight tracker threads.

Yea I’m not sure why it’s so hard for some to follow the logic. It weird nobody seems to want to engage in discussing Brian Kelly not being a fit at LSU anymore. It’s hard to respect posters who just talk crazy shite then disappear when proven wrong. At least come back and discuss the subject. But I guess so many on these message boards are just cowards in real life

You can go back and look at my posts (not smart enough to do it myself ) and see that I actually said it was a good hire so not sure who you are referring to specifically but this board sure was entertaining for a few days

I was just speaking generally. Seemed like the loudest people were those convinced that Kelly wasn’t a good fit and wouldn’t win here despite all evidence to the contrary

You’re a smart person if you were able to put aside your loyalties and realize that he’s a damn good coach and he doesn’t have to love crawfish to win here. Not sure why the media seems to think you must be a Cajun and wrestle gators to fit here but that’s rather insulting and simply not true.

Recruiting, player development and game day coaching are all that’s required. Kelly checks all those boxes

Lots of the aggies who were so amused seem to have gone quiet as have the other cynics. It’d be nice if they’d show their faces around here but I know they won’t. I believe they’re lurking though and that’s why I’m calling them out.

That’s also why I’m poking the rebels and auburn folks bc all the other fan bases seem to enjoy trolling LSU whenever possible so it’s only fair. Surprisingly I’m learning most aren’t good sports about it all lol.

They like to talk the shite but when given back they get kinda pissy

Oddly enough, from what I remember, that one actually had legs for a short minute.

Yea. Waking up and hearing that Orgeron was gonna get the job was like a damn nightmare. I remember thinking you’ve got to be frickin kidding. Fire the coach at the end of September to get a jump on the search and you promote your D-line coach?

As far as the rumors go….there are honestly so many trolls it’s hard to remember which rumors were media driven and which ones were people like us on a message board lmao

I mean, yeah. He got his dream job, and he's actually been successful in it.

Hard to say no to that, even if the possibility is slim.

And credit to UGa- they gambled that an unknown would be more successful than Richt. Took some stones.

Mike’s to Michigan

Thanks Herbstreit

I still think Herbstreit was right and that was going to happen until Pitt beat WVU later that night and changed everything.

The Gruden/Tennessee nonsense is still my favorite coaching rumor. Tennessee fans swore up and down that was a lock.

Here's a current one, Leach is retiring after the Egg Bowl Thursday night, and Dan Mullen is coming back to State.

Dang I’m not in the know about what McIlwain is banging. Thought it was a dolphin and it was an homage to George and Kramer.

Backfired.

I remember State fans saying Dan Mullen's wife loved Starkville and it had everything she would ever want so that is what Merlins would never leave.

Was a long time ago, but it was reported that someone saw Tom Osborne’s signed contract.
