Corey will bring in sick DB talent. Couple that with a good DC and we’ll be good.

Does being excited to be back at LSU mean he will, or won’t, try to hold the program hostage every offseason again?

I would hope that the Florida experience was humbling and has gotten CR to re-focus on doing his job vs leveraging for a raise or promotion. The big difference also is that he won't be able to pull any crap with BK.

He's set up for success now with a no nonsense HC and a good DC.

Sometimes it takes a humbling like CR got from Florida. I’d imagine he’d do everything possible to stay here at his Alma mater given another chance. If he’s hired, we shall see.

I hope his return goes better than his departure. I’m sure he will recruit well paired with Frank, but we’re going to see where he is as an on-field coach today really quickly with our fairly average CB talent level.

I hope you’re getting bad information. If not this is bad news.

Ugh, at least you know what you're getting and hopefully at much lower pay than before.

It's all about the pay. He was making way too much money and kept trying leverage LSU for more every cycle. If he comes in at a much more reasonable salary then it won't be the worst.

But he'll need to show he's not back just to cruise and collect checks but he's coming back to breathe new energy into the coaching and recruiting.

There has to be tangible results on the recruiting trail and with the defense or kick his expensive arse out again.

Eta: As much as people here groan over Raymond, a top performing Raymond is as good as anyone in CFB when it comes to recruiting/coaching.

It's a matter of, will Raymond put in the work?

It’s been crickets since he was let go from UF, so he’s obviously been locked up for weeks. It falls right in line to how BK operates. It has to be us brother. Any other team would have announced his hiring asap because he’s a big name with a big resume.

You looking at it wrong. Best coach? Probably not. But top recruiter? Yes! It'll kinda be like Aranda. Corey you go out and get me grant delpit, Derek stingley, Eli Rick's of the world. I (Blake baker) will coach em up in my scheme.
LSU has been missing the big time top notch dbs. Corey has the track record of bringing them here at the very least.
That's the best I got lol

Such a lazy shite hire. Comparable to saints hiring Dennis Allen.

If I’m betting CR came under the recommendation of Frank based on his ability to recruit, because let’s face it, we need dogs back there again

It seems to me like Frank’s “Associate Head Coach” title is more than just a title. It’s clear he’s got a pretty big hand in building this staff based off the guys coming in. I’ve been one of the ones against CR coming back, but Frank knows what it takes to win championships here. If Frank wants him back, and Corey’s head is back on straight I’m fine with it.

So Corey as the coach of all DB's?

That might mean we have an interior DL and edge rusher coach if Baker is DC/LBs.

Depending on base scheme maybe an edge/OLB coach.

I'd like this because I would love for the focus to be on the front 7 and getting pressure. A consistent rush negates average DB play.

Dude better not dare hold LSU up for another raise. And he owes Frank big time.

Can't believe BK is on board with this!

This is the end of the road for Raymond. He started fluttering end of his tenure here, but also under some terrible conditions with the culture under O. He went to UF which is probably a job he never wanted in the first place.

At this point in his career this is do or die. Either produce a good secondary or your big time coaching career is probably over. So the pressure is on big time now. We know he can coach and recruit, he did it before, lets see if he can do it again under better circumstances.
