How hard will it be to convince a top head coaching candidate to come to LSU? Unfortunately, Baton Rouge has a lot of factors working against it. This is certainly not meant to be offensive, but Baton Rouge has a crime rate that is well above the national average. It's also well known that the city's infrastructure is dilapidated, and the interstates in BR are some of the worst in the nation. The state is struggling through a budget deficit, and has an unemployment number that is above the national average. It seems like it is going to be tough to convince someone to take that position. Is this off base? Genuinely wondering what people's take is on this.

If we're talking cities, it wasn't hard to convince Nick Saban to go to a shite hole like Tuscaloosa.

'Nuff said.

The Top 1% income earners in any state do not share in the general issues of that state.

1) you exaggerate the negatives

2) All of the Baton Rouge folks making 5M per year are able to "cope" fairly well

Team loaded with talent

Big athletic budget

Top 10 facilities

100000+ seat stadium

Good D coordinator in place

It's a near perfect situation.

But does all of that really negate all of the factors mentioned in OP? It seems like a big compromise.

All that plus he will make $6 million+ with low cost of living? Seems about as perfect as can be.

Baton Rouge is not Jackson, MS.

There are very nice areas of BR, but you just hear about the bad a helliva lot more.
