You're wrong, JJ should be fired regardless of who he hires and how much he offers.

I would say no. He's running Sabans defense, not his. Huge mistake by Auburn if It's him.

Funny since many in your base were hoping he would just take over for Saban.

this is the exact reason I don't want him. Everyone knows that Saban is all things Defense and the DC is just doing what Saban tells them to.

I never got the Smart hype.

and y'all think he learned nothing while working there the last few years?

maybe the thinking is that his inside knowledge will help him beat Saban, and that what's its really all about for Auburn at this point.

No sorry. Its about winning championships at every SEC school, not just beating your rival. That is a tard statement.

Well if he keeps doing what saban has been telling him to do for 4-5 years now we should be alright, no?

It's not like Muschamp suddenly became a tard when he left saban. In fact in two years he took a program on the rocks and had the best season in the SEC.

We've spoken to a lot of sources close to both Bama and the Auburn search over the past 24 hours.
As of last night, we indicated that we did not believe that Smart would be the next head coach at Auburn. As of 11:00 CST this mid morning we continue to hear from reliable sources that Smart is NOT headed to Auburn.
These situations are fluid and can change on a dime, but "our sources" confirm with what we are also hearing from Phillip Marshall and Ron Sanders at AuburnUndercover that Smart to Auburn is unlikely to happen at this time. In addition, Marshall posted today that he expects Auburn to name its head coach on Wednesday.
Remember, the world of college coach searches is all about positioning and semantics. There's no way Auburn "officially" offers Smart unless they are a 100% certainty that he accepts. So be prepared for several stories stating that Smart was not offered, and conversely, that he was verbally offered but said no. There's not really a need for us to get in the middle of did Auburn offer Smart or not at this time. We will have some commentary on how all of this played out at a later date.
We will continue to update you on the situation as we get more news.
Again, as of right now we would highly surprised if Smart is Auburn's next coach -- much more surprised than we would have been this time yesterday.
More later.

I would just prefer that he prove himself somewhere else before being offered the HC position at Auburn.

and when he does go out and prove he can be a HC somewhere else, there is a 100% chance AU wouldn't offer him the job. Jesus, just look at the coaching search now. Have you heard of AU offering the job to guys like Patterson or established, proven coaches like that? No.. Hell if Kirby goes out and proves himself, we will be too busy interviewing the next hot assistant, not wasting out time interviewing a proven coach.

That's how I feel. It's not as if Smart has been watching cartoons while the coaches gameplan, etc. The guy has been learning under one of the best coaches in football for 8 years now - 1 at LSU, 1 in Miami and 6 at bama.

While I would love to have a proven big name head coach, I definitely wouldn't be dissapointed with Smart. I think he's got a very promising future as a head coach.

And he can't continue to run Saban's D at Auburn with success?
