re: Coach O on Brady: “We a step ahead.” - re: contract talksPosted by nicholastiger

Brady was actually more involved with the WR's than anything.
That's where the biggest improvement has been made.
LSU receivers ran poor routes, dropped too many passes and were undisciplined and young.
The progress Jefferson, Chase and Marshall have made has been incredible.
Now, the next 3 games if LSU plays for national title will be the toughest games as those windows are going to shrink for the passing game. Everything will tighten up against the upcoming opponents. The challenge is here.

I'll be interested to see if any NFL teams make a play for him, particularly those with a young QB who needs developing.
This would worry me more than any colleges pursuing this year.

I guess I figured that, as passing game coordinator and as highly touted as he is by LSU fans, that he must have had some impact on the transformation of Joe Burrow between last season and this season.
It was perfect storm convergence. Brady brought an offense that fit Burrow’s strengths. Joe brought his toughness and leadership. They likely made each other better in different ways.

Could be because he's never even been a coordinator, and is winning with Les Miles program. (Meaning it had everything it needed to succeed except coaching) Ole Miss was who he is, and if he can't keep spending over $4 million/yr on coordinators, it'll be who he becomes again.

Ole Piss didn’t have a string of 19 seasons of 8 wins or better for him to walk into. They had a bare cupboard because Cutcliffe didn’t give a shite about recruiting. He was bad in other respects there, but he hasn’t had the same issues here. He got over the meddling with coordinators pretty quickly after year 1.

Right....I've been one of O's biggest detractors and my hesitation was always IF he could get the plane off the run way. I didn't believe he had the qualities to be an effective CEO....but with this season and all of the recruiting momentum, he's about to enter the Dabo-CEO territory, which was always the goal. Glad to be eating crow on this one.

Oh you mean stick to the plan - pay Ed less than market rate and get the best assistants possible?
Weird they’d keep doing what works.
Texas paying Herman all that cash too. I thought he was the big offensive badass. Why fire the OC?

Coach Ed Orgeron is the national coach of the year.
At least this year, he’s doing something right.
You sound mad...must be a Bama or A&M fan, eh?
And for the record, we can spend our $120 million per year however the hell we see fit. If we want to spend it all on boudin and gumbo, we can do it.

Beg your pardon. Wasting $4 million on a mascot is fine in that case.
But if you split the next two games, that's $10 million per win
If you gave any school $10 million per win, you wouldn't see O in the running for national coach of the year.

I have no idea what any of this means.
Doesn’t matter, this conversation is silly.
You say LSU has a glorified mascot as HC. Fine. It’s a dumb position to take, but whatever makes you feel better about LSU being the class of the SEC and nation this year under HC Ed Orgeron.
And just for clarity, LSU’s athletic department total revenue last year was $145 million.
We rich and we comin.

this year
My point exactly. This is a once in a generation team for LSU.
Whne Burrow leaves and Brady leaves, it's all back to the guy who went 10-28 at Ole Miss.

He is obviously a better head coach 12-0. Hermans record at Texas 24-15. O is 37 -9 at LSU. You can have Herman.

Uh huh.
I guess we’ll all find out, won’t we??
Know how I know you don’t follow recruiting?
-go ahead and let everyone know, just for context, what team you cheer for.

Even if he gets a raise to 5 million + and gas two coordinators make 5 million total, that is the same as you are paying saban and Clemson is paying dabo plus y'all have high priced coordinators.
Bottom line is 25 million a year just for coaching staff is a bargain if you are making the playoffs. Have you not learned anything from sabans time at bama?
And address my other post. Is a cfo a waste of money? COO? Explain how it works for the best businesses in the world but all of the sudden a CEO is a waste in football. Even though Clemson is using the same template to bring their program to unprecedented success.

Can he? He was calling the offense with they scored 10, 7 of which came within less than a minute left, at Baylor. But troll away.

9 wins in 2017. 10 wins in 2018. Yawn.

that was the dumbest contract right behind jimbos.... Dabo is nothing without his coordinators... He should be thanking god everyday he had Chad Morris and Brent Venebles..

Who gives a frick. If you’re only paying a cfb coach 4m to be the glue that holds a team together near the top of the SEC you’re taking that all day.

that's a bargain considering what he's accomplished this year and seeing how Harbaugh makes almost double that
(Crosses "Fitbit" off gift list.)

Recruiting him to play in the CFP.
