I agree with that. The state of California produces a lot of talent. And a good coach could snag some prospects from other western states too. As far as academics, UCLA is one of the top universities in the country. I think the program has enormous potential.

According to the Orange County Register UCLA's short list is: Peterson, Houston's Kevin Sumlin, and Butch Jones from Cincinnatti.

Of the 3 I think Butch Jones is the most likely to land at UCLA, although Illinois is a possibility for Jones sinece he and the Illinois AD have ties.

I could see Arizona St making a play for Sumlin.

Or perhaps he simply likes where he is, and his family does too. He's making a lot of money and he's at a place where he can win 10 games a year.

Now Peterson might leave, but if he was going to, I think he'd have taken the Florida job when they dangled it in front of him.
