Give me a guy who can excel at the DC job, but perhaps lags in recruiting, over two guys that excel at recruiting, but lag at the DC job.

Peveto says "whhhhhat?"

success is the ultimate recruiter. not just being able "to relate to 18 year olds"

pssssst our D didn't give up all 50 pts against UF
so it gave up 44

and Ole Miss game up 30

how about Ole Miss shutting out StarkVegas when we gave up 24 to them

most points they gave up this year is 31 once

we gave up 31+ how many times? five?

If I recall correctly, Pelini didnt recruit at all. So yes i would rather have a DC that can coach than one that can recruit.

Tyrone Nix has been my solution from day one

Wow, just wow.

You do realize that the only reason he's in Oxford is because he was no longer wanted at his former job right?

That's genius, let's take someone that no one else wants b/c he gave up less points than we did to a common opponent. Brilliant I tell you, brilliant!

Are you ok with potentially hiring a DC that cannot recruit.

I think the issue is that Chavis absolutely doesn't like recruiting, which makes him woeful at it, rather than a lack of outright skill. But, there is no denying that hiring him means that he only closes with recruits who absolutely must talk to the DC. That's what makes the combo of Orgeron and Chavis very attractive - they complement each other's weaknesses. Both are "players' coaches" to a certain degree. However, Chavis is very stern and stoic, serious and reserved, while Orgeron is a frothing at the mouth lunatic, gregarious, animated, etc.
