If we were going to hire leach we might as well make him the head coach and leave Chavis as DC.Chavis doesn't want to be a HC and Leach wouldn't come in that scenario as the OC only as HC.

Im not sure Leach wouldnt do it. He might think he could get the job.

Again I know this idea is reaching but i hate to think that the rush job of a hiring would cost us....

It may not. LSU might get a good one but the timing of all of this sucks

So your "plan" is to hire Chavis as a lame duck coach while we search for the real HC??

So the currently committed prospects this year (and any for 2012) would have to decide to stay with LSU and Chavis as a lame duck HC while we don't have the HC we really want?

Genius that is!!

The difference is that pelini might eventually turn off recruits.Leach would have them eating out of his hands at a school like LSU.

Which reminds me we should re-institute the Tiger Droppings aptitude test for access to the site. If I have to read some of these dumbass opinions, I'm going to need to see some credentials. ACT, SAT, IQ scores etc.

Instead of raisimg my taf fund to make chavis head coach make mullen an offer he can't refuse. I swear some of you are either 10 years old or just plain psychopaths spewing nonsense

If they could get Mullen that would solve all of this

You people are unreal

I see the timing of this as a problem. And offered a solution. I asked for thoughts.

I never said it was a great idea just an idea.

Thats why i said "Hear me out"

Agreed, every one has their price. and you cant make me believe that Mullen doesnt have a price. I dont care about the new contract he made with MSU. Unfortunately, contracts are broken all the time. If Les leaves, make Mullen say no. I dont believe for a minute that UF even approached. What he has done at MSU in 2 short years is nothing short of a miracle. Hell he came within
a whisker of beating us last year.

When Tennessee was riding high from 1995-1999 and Chavis was DC did he ever get many feelers from top 50 teams about being HC ? Ole Miss hired OC Cutcliffe after the 1998 season. I don't remember Chavis' being a real hot commodity.

He may be more suited as an assistant.

The timing of this sucks and we may not be able to get the best man for the job.
The reality is when you win like the LSU's, Bama's, UF, etc... and the coach departs you will be looking for someone to take the helmn late in the game because you are playing a bowl game in January. LSU is going to be fine, six years ago we settled on Miles and we have had success. The powers that be will get the right guy.

Yes, he turned down MTSU before they hired Stockstill. He was a candidate at Cincinnati when they hired Brian Kelly, but I don't think he interviewed.

I think that's it.
