Just days after hiring former Boise State and Auburn HC Bryan Harsin as OC, Cal has hired former Hawaii and Washington State HC Nick Rolovich as a senior offensive assistant. What the hell are they brewing in Berkeley?

In 2021, Rolovich was famously fired from WSU for refusing a mandate for state employees to take the COVID-19 vaccine. He has not worked as a coach since. Rolovich sued WSU for wrongful termination, and that case has not been fully resolved yet.

From wiki:
quote:

Rolovich is known for his zany personality; he brought a tarot card reader, a Britney Spears impersonator, and an Elvis Presley impersonator to Mountain West Conference Media Days during his head coaching days at Hawaii. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rolovich went around Washington State University's Pullman campus on a bicycle Facetiming a recruit with a phone taped to his bike helmet to show the recruit what Pullman and the campus looked like.

Hire probably isn't gonna go over to well at Cal. They were all in on the Vax and then some.

That’s what I was thinking. Berkley isn’t exactly the bastion of free thought and ideas it once was

Harsin and Rolovich are friends. Harsin has defended him before for refusing to get vaccinated.

I'm actually kinda surprised he has been unemployed this long. If I were an AD at a non-blue blood and I was hiring, he would have been near the top of my list. He won't be at Cal long. He's gonna move back up the ladder quickly, IMO.

That’s exactly what’s wrong with the modern progressive left. There was a time when Berkeley would have welcomed a zany personality with different views.

i wonder if Harsin’s vax stance was the beginning of his troubles at AU

despite having a conservative fanbase, the admin has always seemed as liberal as most major universities, its my understanding that quite a few higherups were pissed at Harsin’s “its a personal matter” viewpoint (which turned out to be correct)

despite this, frick that guy

I'm surprised there haven't been riots yet with Harsin being MAGA and Rolo being anti clot. Shows you how little they know or give a shite about football at Berkley.
