BREAKING: Jeff Brohm is staying at Purdue. Brohm had an offer to take over as the head coach at Louisville - his alma mater - but says in a release that he will stay put in West Lafayette, Ind.

Dino Babers should be their next call.

I know hiring retread coaches hasn't worked out, but I hear there's a guy at USF who's a pretty good head coach...

Didn't I just get lectured on how much better Louisville is than Purdue? Odd...

Is Louisville that much better of a job than Syracuse? That's like Randy Edsall leaving UCONN for Maryland.

I'd say yes, slightly....but the only thing to be gained by leaving is the $$$.
Babers has invested 3 years to turn a very down program into at least a winner this year. Who knows if he can keep it up but his odds of maximizing output are better at Syracuse now than that dumpster fire @ UL.
Now, if there is like 2M more a year, a fat buyout and good assistants pool....it becomes interesting. I think that's what UL fans didn't understand in the whole Brohmwatch fiasco for them. UL was his home....but why leave in the middle of a rebuild for the same $$$ with no guarantees that your recruiting class youve worked 18 months to build follows.

This is a catastrophic development for Louisville

To be fair, that had to be a hard decision for Brohm (and for his brother Brian, inevitably) but the AD is just a shitshow right now. And if he hasn’t moved somewhere bigger in 4-5 years it may be open again.

This is such an embarrassing development for the program
Native son turning down mama’s call?

Louisville should just promote Whammy Ward. He can bring in Spurrier Jr or Kurt Roper to dial up the offense.

Brohm will be at Auburn, USC etc in a year or 2. Good long term decision.
