Pretty much.

Plus, he would basically have to come in and clean up Petrino’s mess and do it in a short turnaround if he wanted to do so before he left for something bigger. And ask anyone who’s followed him about how big that task is.

Him coming in for just a couple of years if he has big time aspirations does nothing for UofL.

Obviously this was a very hard decision for Brohm. He played at Louisville as well his father, brother, etc. The Brohm name is held very highly in the city. Just sucks we are in this shape. Going to be very hard for our AD to sell the next coach to the fan base after this. Devastating blow

Petrino really screwed us

Good for him...Him, Frost and Fleck will make that side of the big 10 fun to watch the next few years.

Happy for Brohm and Purdue. Weird that I somewhat root for them.

frick.Louisville. But they should call the Gus Bus. That is toxic and has Les Miles 2016 written all over it for Auburn

Todd Grantham is still a giant piece of excrement. I hope they strike out on their first 27 candidates and they have to resort to bringing that turd in.

I'm not sure if Neal Brown would take it, other options now available. He might be a better hire than Brohm honestly, other than the hometown ties of Brohm.

I wouldn't have been surprised if Brohm left, but I'm not surprised he's staying either.

He probably would've done well at Louisville, and he might take a bigger job one day, but it looks like he has a good thing going at Purdue right now. Bird in the hand, so to speak.

Only reason I can think he turned it down is pressure. It will be such a rebuild job for the hometown guy and if he doesn't win big within the first couple of seasons, he will feel the fans turn on him. Petrino really left us in a huge toxic mess

Could be lots of reasons man. Maybe he didn't like the vibe he got from the AD. Maybe UL had "conditions" about scheme, etc.

Partially true. There is none at Purdue. At least not yet.

Also has a killer class coming in and most of those guys would have gone to 2nd choices over following him to UL.

Eh, he seems like a guy that likes a challenge. And you know he’s a UofL guy thru and thru. He’s going to want what’s best for the program.

I think he simply couldn’t commit the time needed to turn around the program. He knows some bigger jobs are going to open up in the next 2-3 seasons and he’ll be on some short lists, especially if he continues to do well at Purdue.

It wouldn’t be fair to UofL for him to come in and not be able to commit for more than a couple of years. And I think he knew that.

Nope, Louisville screwed the pooch. They tried to be cheap and not give him as many years as he wanted to let him rebuild.

Wrong. Jeff Brohm released a statement a little bit ago saying it was nothing AD Vince Tyra did. The offer was very enticing to him. He simply said it was not an ideal situation right now. Honestly, I can't blame him. It will be a major rebuild job

He will end up at a better job. If he’s going to disappoint his alma mater, it’s better to do it by not going there at all than to leave them for a bigger school in a few years.
