recruiting hasnt been the problem. QB development and cohesive offense has. lets worry about their ability to do those things instead.

Well if they are all equal, it does make a difference if one has a massive leg up on the others.

Also we aren't the search party so we have time to chat about this things. It is what a forum is for.

Going to be awesome when Briles lands in the SEC elsewhere and comes back to bite us.

Sounds like you’re hoping for it.

Well, yeah, in a way. If he goes somewhere else in the conference (other than Alabama, where everything is allowed ), and the world doesn't end, then maybe our BOS or whoever was shooting this down realizes they are being too damn timid, and they wake up and act more boldly.

Ill briefly explain here in a min what Briles offense is based on and why you cant stop it.. DC's only hope to contain or limit it..

I think Briles is about the only hire O could make that would make me like him... That offense was able to take Baylor to a top ten Ranking and matches perfectly with what our state puts out athletically.. Briles runs the spread with a power run.. Inside/Trap etc.. keeping the the WR's outside the hashes and matches the inside guys up with safeties.. can you imagine our big O-lineman with our big backs going up against 5-6 guys in a box? and when they drop that safety down a bit an inside WR burning them down the middle?.. you cant stop it.. you can really only limit it.. thats why he was able to take one of the worst programs in the state and make it one of the best.. all you need is a few athletes.. last time a checked LSU was loaded with them. and they would poor in to be apart of that offense.. pair that with aranda on the other side and its just damn scary how good we could be..

thats the basis of his power-run version of the spread, and he created it before urban meyer was even at Utah. Briles (and his son) are very sharp people, they are innovative thinkers and have tweaked their system to their personnel at times but the system is designed to attack numbers, it has nothing to do with time (what i dont like about others such as Cumbie) the only other guy that runs a similiar basis is Gilbert. I would take him. like i said in another thread, imagine our big olineman and out big backs going up against 5-6 guys in a box. because 4 Wrs are outside the hashes at all times. They predicate what they do on the safties. (which are in nature a support position) if the saftey drops down inside WR's burn the middle, if they drop back, you have a 220lb fast RB that dices the LB's.. again you can only really contain it. there isnt a fool proof way to stop it, at least not one ive heard of, unless you are just that much better athletically than someone else, then it doesnt matter what you run.... My dad runs the same system. He ran briles clinics back when he was at Stephenville, i remember him telling me growing up, that guy is gonna be big time one day.. pair him with aranda on the other side of the ball its down right unfair to the other team.. take what little PR hit you get with hiring Baby Briles and stay the hell out of his way.. Kiffen didnt bring him to FAU for briles to learn from him.. Kiffen brought him in so he could learn his daddys system... take it for what its worth..

He’s under the Air Raid tree. But he like many other current Air Raid coaches have evolved and runs the ball more than you expect a traditional Air Raid team to run it

I would rather Gilbert, but Cumbie has made good old Kenny Trill look good this year. I think there would be a bigger adjustment to his system than to Gilbert’s, but they are both solid candidates.
