The Advocate - "Kelly, 60, is the winningest active coach in college football and the winningest coach in Notre Dame history, surpassing the legendary Knute Rockne. He led the Fighting Irish to a 45-14 rout of Stanford on Saturday, raising his record to 284-97-2 in 31 seasons overall and 113-40 in 12 seasons in South Bend. His .742 winning percentage is behind only that of Alabama coach Nick Saban among active FBS coaches (.802)."
Let me say my piece, then you can go in your corners and melt if needed. First, hear me out. I am 60 years old too and can still do a lot of the things I did at 30. Brian Kelly is in the mold of New England head coach Bill Belichick who coaches in the bitter cold, is tough as nails, and young players respect him and fight for him!
For Brian Kelly and LSU, the mixture of Lousiana's skilled athletes with those big behemoth linemen Kelly will sign from up north it's a perfect match. Stop saying Kelly is too old and can't coach at 60, Belichick is 69, Saban is 70 and both can stomp your rears any day of the week!

a'ght Mr. Stay Off My Lawn.
jk. I like the Kelly hire and the age issue is silly. Also sets up a stable transition in 10 years or so which is a lifetime in SEC coaching tenures.

Spot on. I'm 60 and could call a great game if I was OC. You don't lose creativity when you get older you lose mobility. We don't need him to play, we need him to recruit and manage.

ND doesn't lose to "nobodies" as Saban and Orgeron did.

Spurrier was the same age as Kelly is now when South Carolina hired him and he took South Carolina to their most successful seasons in their history.

He’s definitely not a bitch like Lincoln Riley, running away from the SEC. Kelly is ready to play Nick Saban, Jimbo, Pittman, the Pirate, Lane train, and now Napier every year. All his teams will be more disciplined than anything Miles had and Miles had some pretty disciplined teams.

Maybe not coaching in 10 degree weather will extend his lifespan some.
Saban is 70. Is he too old?

ND didn't have access to the athletes at LSU from Louisiana. Now Kelly will!
