When Strong is finally put out of his misery, most also assume that Tom Herman will be far and away the Longhorns’ top target as a replacement — including at least one very popular sportsbook.

In an email with the title of “Tom Herman is the only person with a chance to become the next Texas Coach according to the Oddsmakers,” Bovada.lv revealed that the current Houston head coach is the overwhelming favorite to replace Strong. In fact, Herman is the only coach listed, period.

From the release:

Will Tom Herman be the coach of the Texas Longhorns for the 2017 season?
Yes -500 (1/5)
No +300 (3/1)

Held out so much hope that Texas would hold onto Charlie for just one more year and let us roll out the red carpet for Herman. Alas, it wasn't meant to be

Vegas doesn't know shite in situations like this. They purely go by how the public is reacting to gossip. They had Hillary a -600 favorite at 3:00 pm Election Day

Politics are different. You can't confirm votes. You can confirm contract negotiations.

Wrong. They arent perfect at anything but they always know more than the public. It wouldnt be an option to bet if they didnt.

What did Vegas odds have for Trump and Brexit? Leicester FC? 2016 has been the year of upsets my friend.

Doesn't look good for getting Herman, but Vegas odds should not be the thing discouraging you. They have no other purpose except getting about half of the people on each side of the bet. If they do that, they have succeeded regardless of the outcome

Presidential election was based off polls. Coaching search odds are based off of credible sources that I am pretty sure the sports books have. If you dont think its legit, place you a big ole bet at +300.

So LSU puts 5M on him not going to UT and gives him the bet ticket as part of the negotiations?
