His contract is up in March. I'm sure that his buyout can't be too much for 3 months. He wouldn't be the first guy to ever leave for a new job prior to their contract being fulfilled.

Yea Good point. Nick Saban is threatened by Lane Kiffin

He should be. Lane outcoached him head to head in their only meeting.

I'm glad you're so not worried about it that all you guys keep posting on the LSU board. Makes perfect sense lol.

It will be even more funny when Kiffin leaves and Alabama's offense improves.

TBH, my faith level is very low as it is.

The only thing I wanted Kiffin for is recruiting. If this Orgeron experiment fails (and it's very likely), at least O and Kiffin will leave the team stocked.

Kiffin surprisingly hasn't played a major role in recruiting at Alabama.

It's not like Bama's offense has gotten better after each OC hire or anything

...oh wait.

Saturday might be Kiffin's last game of play calling for Bama, but no way Saban lets him start recruiting for a rival while still under contract.

That contract has a termination clause. There may be a buyout, but it's very doubtful that Saban can prevent Kiffin from doing whatever he wants.

I would assume Bama would just reassign him to different duties until his contract runs out. Didn't LSU do that with one of their defensive coaches in the last couple years?

I am no Saban fan, far from it, but he will have over a mth to get any changes brought on by a change in OC set in place for the playoffs. He always makes some changes anyway. This won't effect bama offensively in any way. No way does Kiffin have any HC job locked up, no one at a place that he might be interested in is even interviewing yet. Must be a matter of Nicky finding out this week & telling him to move on as soon as practical. I mean, bama is favored by 24 over the offensively challenged gators.

Of course they are . Those rednecks get their entire sense of self worth from their football team's success.

They can't fathom that anyone would choose to not be somewhere else. These are people who literally kill one another over a football game.

Bama knew all year that Lane was leaving (prob HC job) after this year. So they have Sark there ready to fill in if leaving before post season if necessary. Pretty smart and obvious all season. LSU is Kiffins backup plan if he doesn't get the right HC job this year. He's gone either way. I hope he doesn't go to LSU. It would only be for a year anyway more than likely

Yet we will throw the bank at him even though he is not considered a leading candidate for any other job.

Has Kiffin ever left a team on good terms?

Reassign who?

Kiffin would terminate the contract and owe a buyout...but he'd be free to do what he wants.

I think he plays a bigger role than you might think.
