He was the OC and QB Coach in 2017:

“We’re gonna take what the defense gives us today. Eventually they’ll give us the game”

Gotta love that.

His QB coaching is really good. The work he’s done with Levi Lewis is remarkable

They were the 42nd ranked offense that year, if I'm not mistaken. Averaged about 33 ppg.

In his first year with the program, Napier guided the Sun Devils’ offense to the 14th highest-graded offense in the FBS according to Pro Football Focus - including the 10th highest-graded passing attack in the nation. ASU was graded 54th in the nation in total offense last season and 86th in the passing game on the year. The offensive turnaround (+40 positions) was the eighth-largest in the FBS and ASU was one of just three programs to move from outside the Top-50 to inside of it in just one season. The 76-spot swing in the passing game rankings was the third highest in all of the FBS (second among Power Five schools).

ASU developed one of the elite red zone scoring teams in the nation under Napier, tied for first nationally in converting on 95.83 percent of its red zone appearances (46-of-48) with the only two “blemishes” against the Sun Devils coming when the team took a knee late in the fourth quarter. ASU was 11th nationally in red zone touchdown scoring rate with 36 touchdowns on those 48 attempts (75.00).

Hope this helps.

What does this mean? Can you provide the list of the other teams in this list?

The 8th largest in the FBS? I've never heard anyone reference this obscure stat. Sounds like one of those deep dive stats that doesn't mean anything except to ULL fans.

QUESTION: Have you ever sought out these stats before now?

They're all obscure BS to hide the mediocrity of the offense.

Good info, I think his offense play calling needs some work but he does win and that's what matters.

Here is what I wrote earlier

quote:

Hudspeth was a really good coach at D2 N Alabama, like very very good. not championship level good but routinely 1 or 2 loss good.

took over ull and won 9 games his first 4 years mainly on the back of being a rah rah guy. He realyl didnt have a vision for the program, most old school, im gonna coach my guys up kind of thing. But come to find out he was cheating like a mofo. they started getting investigated and suddenly it was back to losing. had 3 straight losing seasons and ran the program into the ground to the point that in Napiers first year they only had 53 commits on the team, only 2 4 stars(napier got these guys) and 18 3 stars. Really in Huds last year in 2017 they were down to 54 commits, no 4 stars and only 15 3 stars.

Napier has slowly built them to where in 2021 they have 70 commits, 3 four stars and 48 3 stars. went from 7th in conference in talent to 2nd with an average of 78.28(329pts) to 82.16 (513.86 pts).

napier has routinely built the talent up there

2018-(2) 4 stars, (18) 3 stars
2019- (3) 4 stars, (19) 3 stars (2019 #1 class in sbc)
2020- (2) 4 stars, (36) 3 stars (2020 #1 class in sbc)
2021- (3) 4 stars, (48) 3 stars(2021 #1 class in sbc)

he has completely rebuilt the roster.

He still isnt my number 1 and maybe not my number 2 but he is way above franklin, barely above kiffin

What's obscure about tied for first in red zone efficiency?

Here's the list of teams. Let me know if you're impressed by the other teams included at the top.

Just for reference Kansas was 1-11 on the season yet tied for 6th on this list.

Florida international, also at the top of this list had the 86th ranked offense.

So you don't think converting red zone opportunities is important?

Good to know.

Nice deflection. It's obvious based on evidence redzone efficiency rankings have little bearing on your team's success, as evidenced by 1-11 Kansas being on the list. Nor is it any indication on the potency or quality of your offense, seeing as the putrid 86th ranked offense of FIU being ranked 2nd on that list.

Like I said, you never even think of those BS stats you posted because it's obvious you have no context for what they even mean, or what they tell you. You just post stuff other people tell you is good.

Probably because he doesn't have a good enough resume to say he's a home run.

Yep. One spot above Clemson. ASU went from 80th in 2016 to 42nd in 2017...

I'd prefer Aranda, whom I consider not a risk.

And 34 spots behind the Lane Kiffin led FAU Owls which had the 8th ranked offense.

2017 Napier-led Arizona St. offense ranked behind 6 SEC teams including Miss St., Ole Miss, Georgia, Alabama, Texas A&M, and Auburn.

Your dedication to hating on Napier is impressive.

Whether it's at LSU or elsewhere, he's gonna build a great program.

I didn't dedicate to anything. Pointing out meaningless stats=/=hate. Unless you're one of those people that thinks all disagreement is "hate". Just because I call out local bias on Napier doesn't mean I'm a bad or hateful person.

Means absolutely nothing. It's a hopeful wish not anywhere near a fact. You love him and you're huge fan of his. That's great, but it has nothing to do with how he compares to other coaching candidates on an objective basis.
