So is he hiring yes men, or the best men?
I’m inclined to think it’s the former… That’s going to be a problem for UF.

quote:I understand that mentality. It it is indeed very common.
I think he is hiring people who he trusts and knows what it took to get ULL where it is at now. They are trying to change the culture there and if many have been working together they know exactly the plan and their role. No reason to go get a bunch of SEC retreads or whoever “just because”.
But it has failed more than it succeeded when there's too many "my guys". SEC is brutal. Any weaknesses will be exploited... repeatedly. Maybe not so much the position coaches, but for sure the coordinators you have to go find good solid guys. Now if you've moved around the P5, fine.
But when you are "leveling up" it can be a disaster. And has been more times than not.
The great coaches surround themselves with other great coaches AND do not tolerate fools who don't measure up... simultaneously. "My guys" is not that.

Makes me laugh everytime that Napier thinks he is a football Nostradamus and demanded a big time SEC job and Florida was dumb enough to give him one.

Wow, upvote for common sense. Thank you

Nothing about the way Napier has carried himself since taking the UF job says that he views himself as a "football Nostradamus." That's a guy like Dan Mullen who thinks he's the smartest person in the room and can out-scheme terrible recruiting.

I said weeks ago that LSU fans would start more Napier threads than UF fans, and here we are.

Probably because this is an lsu website, just a guess

Does he coach at LSU?
Don’t see many Auburn HC threads on here. Mainly Saban, Jimbo or Napier.
I guess it’s good to be in the top 3

No but there are threads on Matt Rhule and the jaguars on here as well. Most threads here are started by lsu fans.

Rhule was on many of your wishlist for the Brady OC factor.
You guys claim you didn’t want Napier, so why the obsession with every move he makes?
We didn’t want BK, you don’t see us in here everytime he moves. JS

SOURCES: Ole Miss is hiring USF OC Charlie Weis Jr. as the Rebels new offensive coordinator. He worked with Lane Kiffin at FAU and on the Alabama staff. The move was first reported by @mzenitz.
Wow, you mean Lane hired a coach he knows??
So crazy it just might work

Henderson is a nice get at dl coach.
Napier is making some nice hires. Karl scott is another really good hire.
Napier is throwing out some decent money.

I was strongly opposed to Napier being interviewed/considered for the LSU job and was glad we didn't go that route. But that is over and done with ... why are we still picking apart every single move the guy makes at Florida?

Maybe so but you can hire better coordinators than the guys you had at ULL

If LSU had hired Napier and proceeded to just bring his ULL staff, I wonder how those folks would feel about that.
This. This is their reaction.
Because they just want to bust a nut over everything he does regardless if it’s actually a good move or not.

Simply because there were several big Napier guys on this board and in the media, so others feel the need to denigrate everything he does. Not because they dislike him or even him going to Florida, but because they want to piss off other people on the internet.
Disclaimer: I love the Brian Kelley hire and didn't want Napier.

Because some morons here obsessed over him in every fricking thread made before we hired Kelly. It didn’t matter to them that he was unqualified for the job. All they cared about was maintaining the “good Ole boy, one of us” bullshite mentality that got us the last knuckle dragging frickwit.
