Most Alabama natives get out and don't go back.

No way they get Sumlin, it's going to be either Saban or Miles.

And Sumlin knows how that ended.

with about 10 years at that school and getting a nice buyout to not coach then landing in the big 12? Woe is tommy

No one in their right mind thinks it's going to happen, but you missed the mark here.

Oh, I think I hit the mark dead on. You guys end up firing every coach who has success...Dye, Bowden, Tuberville, and Chizik...three with perfect seasons and the other gets the field named after him.

Now, you do bring up one valid point, which is this: If you would like to go somewhere, have a little success, then get fired and have a shitload of money to live on while you sit on your arse, what better place to go than Auburn?

What's dumber than paying Tubs millions to not coach? Paying Chizik even more millions to not coach.

I waited patiently for years for Sumlin to return to College Station. It's going to take a LOT to pry him from Aggieland, folks. But hey, if some school wants to throw Saban/Mack Brown money at him, then more power to ya. Even then, A&M would match. The NFL is another story, however.

Obviously this has turned into the laugher thread it should be but the money point is a huge one. Technically Sumlin is underpaid at the moment but that will be corrected. A&M is about to drop well over $400 million on rebuilding Kyle Field so if anyone thinks they will let our rising star coach get bought they are nuts. Sumlin also went to Purdue and has minimal ties to Alabama anymore but he does have deep ties to A&M from long before he was hired. This was always his dream job and he stated that many times to many people when we weren't even thinking of a new coach.

Chance AU hires Sumlin away from A&M: 3%
Chance Sumlin gets a large raise and probably a buyout clause (if he does not already have one): 97%

I think that they had James Franklin and Kirby Smart as our top targets a few days ago. However given the recent success that aTm has had I dont think we would even bother getting into a bidding war with them. We already owe our ex HC 10 million. By getting Petrino we can negotiate a much better deal given his recent past aka a no buy-out clause.
