Isn't a little early to be passing judgement on Downs?

what % of plays run are out of an i formation? to read your posts you'd think it was at least 90%.

BTW isn't this thread severely off topic for this board? Looks more like an extension of the rant.

it wouldn't shock me if our stats for 1st down i-form were around 85%

if we were running even 25% in the I you and the rant would be going bananas every week. rarely do we come out in straight I form on first down and we almost never have two TEs unless it is short yardage.

one of the problems our two QBs have in the I is they are not good at play action fakes. Flynn was very good at it and made it work in 2007. JJ and JLee are not. The other problem we have in the I this year is we don't have a consistent FB

and our interior OL is either horrible (hitt) or literally weak as shite (josh d, hebert)

we should have all but abandoned the i-form except for a test here or there

that's why running keiland was so important to this team, but using him as an option back without an option QB or coordinator who can call/scheme the option is a much smarter move

i would be shocked if its that high; i'm not saying we don't do it but 85% seems high.

regardless you're talking about 1st down only. a lot of teams run i formation and a lot of teams run between the tackles. you seem to be portraying this as a 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense when it isn't (we're inept as frick on offense but it isn't b/c we're running it i form up the gut 90% of the time on EVERY down).

we waste prolly 0.75 downs per 4 downs by our resistence to move away from IFUTG running

but our worst sin on offense is anything option related

with JJ this is about all we do

with Jlee they use it a little bit more because he is not much of a zone read QB

to be completely honest I dont really understand why Crowton doesn't max-protect and run two WR routes more

that is more perplexing to me than the option game which is really just a glorified stretch/toss sweep play since the QB will not keep it

well we do have an option QB, but they refuse to run the option with him

I was pretty much asking the same thing all year. both TD passes against AU came out of it (3 man routes though). not saying go crazy with it, but I'd like to see it called more.

we only have three time outs to work with SFP

he is a 1 TO:3 plays ratio right now and we may need those TOs for later on in the game
