If the WR coach from Florida is the best we can get to be OC, this program is sinking like a rock. I am not saying that he might not end up doing a good job, but it is all a gamble and we don't need gambles right now. We need someone who can take our superior talent and blend it into an efficient and productive offense. Can Gonzales do that? Maybe, but we don't know. That is not the situation that we need to be in right now and the fact that Les has us in that situation means that we are in really bad shape, imo.

If I'm Miles there's no way I'm hiring Gonzo as OC, good as he MIGHT be, when my livelihood and $4MM a year is on the line.

Miles has only two options, keep Crowton or offer the opportunbity to someone that would not normally get a OC postion at a school the status of LSU. What quality OC would want to come work for Miles if he is on the hotseat. It's a gamble for both Miles and Gonzales.

Anyone suggesting Gonzales as OC with Tolbert as WR coach have to be some stupid MFers. Post BG's resume all you want, but I don't see QB coaching anywhere on it, and I seriously doubt we are stupid enough to have absolutely NO ONE on staff with QB coaching experience.

shite, if we're going to use experience under Meyer as a pre-requisite, why not just promote Studs since he's worked under Meyer and has actually been an OC. Being under Meyer doesn't automatically make you a genius play caller or offensive mind. The loss of Mullen this year was obvious and Adazio showed his playcalling ability that actually at times seemed to handcuff UF's offense.

In the end if Crowton is let go, someone with QB coaching experience HAS to be hired.

I think that Crowton is gone. Don't be surprised with Krag or Jag coming in. If Gonzo is the OC,which I don't think will happen, then a QB coach would be hired. Let's see:

Gonzo - OC & WR
Sutd - OL
Wilson - RB
the Don - TE
? QB Coach -

The numbers of coaches would be the same.

From what I have heard and read on Gonzo is that he has already been involved in play calling before. He was calling plays for Florida in the past. he might not have called all the plays or been the OC but he called quite a few and had success doing so. From what Florida fans have said each year he was more involved in calling plays as Meyer was grooming him to take over as OC one day and when the time came and he passed him over that's what caused the rift. Just saying
