People who make these post are clueless and have never been outside of BR.

Okay. I see your point, but if you get off the I-10 at Highland Road and cruise into the south side of campus, Baton Rouge looks like a good place to live. So let’s show the prospective coaches that part of BR and point out you can have top 5 recruiting classes every year and barely have to recruit out of state.

I said either or draco. Some are dirtier but offer more attractions.

These guys are incredibly wealthy and work insane hours. It might be an issue for some candidates but not for most. They can pay to send their kids to expensive private schools and not really have to deal with BRs problems. Tuscaloosa isn't some great town either.

Lol. "Crime ridden" Baton Rouge. Someone spends too much time on the OT Lounge. I would wager the vast majority of the crime happens north of Florida (I'd say Government, but last time I was in town it looked like there was a pretty cool revitalization of Government.

Baton Rouge is crime ridden. Source? I've lived here for 42 of 44 years. And it's not just north of Florida Blvd anymore. I still don't think it matters for most coaches.

Do you think college football coaches are looking at area attractions?

Baton Rouge has always had crime. To call it "crime ridden" is pure hyperbole.

Their wives are. That's who you have to sell on BR. The coaches are working 16 hour days 10 months out of the year.

It has but nothing like it does now. Halfway through the year the only city with a higher murder rate than BR was Baltimore. It's not nearly as confined as it used to be.

I grew up in Baton Rouge and didn’t like it. I left for college and never came back except to see my parents. If my parents moved away, I would either never go back or go back once every 5-10 years.

I’ve lived in 7 cities in the US, ranging from small towns to the three of the five largest cities in the country.

I mention all of this not because anyone cares about me but to give some evidence that I’m not some Baton Rouge homer who has barely left the state.

And Baton Rouge isn’t that bad.

More importantly, for a college coach, it’s got a job at the pinnacle of the profession.

Most of us wouldn’t love to live in Cleveland, St. Louis, Rochester MN or Durham NC. But for a doctor, it means they’ve reached the top of their profession as doctors at some of the world’s top hospitals. LSU (and Bama, OU, etc) is basically the Cleveland Clinic for college football coaches.

Coaches care more about winning than the city. Otherwise Vanderbilt, Virginia and Arkansas would be dominating the college football landscape

People try to deflect, but we all know Baton Rouge is a shite of a city. It could easily affect a coach’s decision. I don’t make head coach money, but I can afford to live in nicer areas and can afford private schools. I still look at the livability and safety of a city before taking a job.
I went to LSU and loved my time their. However, I would not move back there with my family unless the money was far better than in a nicer city.

Are you in Birmingham? That city has plenty of crime and seedy areas. Most years it's a top 10 murder market.

How many other SEC towns/areas have you been to? Serious question.

It’s no worse than Tuscaloosa or Gainseville and they can attract big names coaches.
