We interviewed multiple candidates and selected the best football coach, he has extensive head coaching experience and his contract comes with a Harley.

(BTW: Rumor is that the deal with Jimbo fell through, he was trying to play hard ball between Auburn and UT (TIFWIW, do not ask for sources, etc.)

Only Bama and A&M are playing championship level football. Our new coach will come in and compete immediately.

If Patterson stays at TCU (which he probably will), then we get one of the best football coaches available in Bobby Petrino. If he is the next coach, I expect big things on the football field sooner than later.

Hopefully so.

it's college football, where things move in cycles... right now, we've been shuffled to the bottom, but history tells us that the three teams who were very good this year in the west probably won't be the same top three teams 2 or 3 years from now.

I have confidence we can get back near the top in fairly short order... we are closer than some probably think.

Less to do with that than the state of the West right now. It's not just Auburn that would have a little more trouble than usual in this environment.

I'll be pulling for you against everyone except when it's against LSU's interest.

2012 division leaders
West - Bama, LSU, A&M
East - UGA, Florida, USC

2009 division leaders
West - Bama, LSU, Ole Miss
East - Florida, Georgia, Tenn

Picking a 3 year time frame didn't really serve your argument well. So, A&M takes Ole Miss' place; USC takes Tenn's place; and you swap UF and Georgia. I would think that over the next 2-3 years, the winner of the LSU/Alabama game will still be the front-runner for the National Championship, much less the SEC, or the SEC West.

we'll see in a couple years... there have three different SECW winners in the last three years... three SECE winners in the last four years.

Anyone thinking Aub will get a big named coach not named Bobby Petrino is fooling themselves. Prepare to say, "Who?" upon announcement of your new coach.

so like most bama fans you don't know much about football outside of t-town.

Makes perfect sense.

Is anyone really going to say "who" to any of the names that have been listed. Best chancef or that is Chad morris, but i expect many here have heard of him

Morris, while unproven, is the next big name in college football. Auburn is going to be a tough one for anyone at this point and I think he'll use this to get more money at Clemson--he's making 1.3 million and they may bump him $250,000 or so to keep him. Clemson will be strong next year and I'd say another year at Clemson and he will be ready to make the leap to a big program. Just my two cents.

Update:

Auburn: Despite a report that has surfaced, sources tell me that Auburn has NOT setup an interview with Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris at this point.
