Search includes...
Turner Gill, Buffalo (HC)
Brady Hoke, Ball St. (HC)
Paul Johnson, Ga. Tech (HC)
Jimbo Fisher, Fla. St. (OC)

Only Gill and Johnson concern me. However, all are downgrages from Tubberville.

And Turner Gill would be an upgrade over Tubby.

Johnson is the only one that would work out imo. Johnson can win with less, & that triple option/wishbone he runs...he would not have to out recruit Saban with that offense. Good mobile OL, an option QB & fast small backs..no TE's, no Wr's..just blockers...just the opposite of what most teams are recruiting, including Saban.

I agree with you about Gill. What he has done at Buffalo is simply amazing. A school is going to take a chance on him and look like geniuses.

Maybe you should look at Buffalo's record before Gill. That guy epitomizes doing more with less. He'll have tough sledding in the SEC, especially at Auburn, but I would hate to face him every year. Don't get me wrong though, Tubby is hard to replace. I think him and Nutt are great at getting the most out of their talent. I think Gill fits this mold but would be a bit more aggressive in the recruiting side of things.

I think he is. I know we all hate Tubby, but the man can coach. Go look at his record against top 10 and top 5 teams. Johnson is a good coach, but I doubt that offense would ever win BIG in the SEC (or the ACC for that matter). They'll win 8 or 9 games but not 13, which is what Auburn seems to be demanding (though clearly unrealistic).

gotta go with the obligatory Urban's offense won't work in the SEC.

i think johnson can be very successful in the SEC, especially given the talent that could be at his disposal.

not only did he say the SEC, he even had the audacity to say it about the ACC. His FIRST year with a roster with nothing but pro-style caliber players running a triple option offense, he goes 9-3 and one game away from playing in the ACC Championship game.

Uh, what?
If you find it funny that the wishbone variation that Johnson runs would have some problems in the SEC I think you're 100% wrong....Johnson's a good coach. And that offense is a good idea for certain programs. I think Auburn can do better.

Your damn right I did. I suspect Ga Tech will usually win 9 games or so every year he's there. An upgrade from where they were(which i why i said he's a good coach). But that's not winning big.

What does the overall program have to do with what type of offense a team runs?

do you realize the transistion between a pro-style offense and a triple offense a team would have to go through to get where GT is at right now? Do you know anything about what Paul Johnson has done in the past? Where's he's been? His accomplishments? What he did at Navy? Something no coach could do in 40+ years? Seriously?

I was thinking about this this weekend. Regardless of my fandom with LSU, I'm so sick of fans from around the SEC thinking that every team in the conference is superior to everyone else around college football. Wake up.

IMO, Oklahoma is going to beat Florida. frick the rest of the SEC. I hate Florida. I hate Alabama. I hate Auburn. How's that for being loyal?
