Which coach can come to LSU, fit in, recruit and get it done?

At the of the day, who wants to compete in this league? Like who loves competition? This is a meat grinder league.

There has been talk about a white whale. Who is the white whale? LOL That would have to be Nick Saban, right? who else is a white whale in coaching?

Urban Meyer?

Dabo is next in that conversation if we're talking Championship coaches

Jimbo would fit in with LSU. We know he likes the Louisiana culture... love it or not, he is a fit with LSU. Jimbo can win with the right QB, and can recruit!

but he had his chance, I doubt he gets another we shall see!!!

okay so that's it on Championship coaches who might be defined as white whales,

Fickell, great coach, only 48, solid family man, people like him, ...if he wants to do more in his career he is going to have to move to a program that doesn't play Austin Peah, SMU, Tulsa, UCF, and Memphis...

I can see this guy walking the sidelines for LSU...Day at OSU is 42, that job isn't changing hands anytime soon. Fickell should be getting a little closer to making a move than he might be letting on. Moving 6 kids? That's a big deal, might be the deal breaker with family ties. depends on how ambitious he is...that's a key tale tale if he is the right fit

Making 3.4 million a year, ...LSU offers 8 million salary, it won't be easy to say no to compete in the toughest conference in CFB.

Riley- not sure I see him in Purple and Gold, nor do I see 12 million as has been speculated. Does LSU really want to set a bar in paying coaches north of 10 million a year that has not won a playoff game? That's Saban money...only he is worth that kind of cash IMHO

Aranda-I could see him coming back, a serious leader is what we need. I worry he can recruit at high enough level to fight in the west

Napier- I could see it because he lives in Lousiana, just wonder if he's ready for the big leagues. Likely down 4-6 on Woodwards list. I don't perceive him on Fickell's level but I am just a fan

PJ Fleck -was high on everyone's list not long ago

Mel Tucker- don't know enough, at this point, don't see it

Bill O - impressive resume, not sure on him either. Can he recruit?

Kiffin- Okay,a lot of instability over his career...great offense, entertaining, but is that what LSU needs right now? We need to rebuild the culture at LSU with in the football building. Hiring him would create excitement no doubt. Not sure on results, he would be interesting

Mark Stoops- 2 losses and everyone seems to bail on this idea

Bob Stoops- who has come out of retirement after so many years and killed it? crickets

Petersen- another retired coach (age 57) young yet IMHO...he is someone to keep an eye on..Always liked this guy

Rhule- seems very un-likley with NFL schedule and deadlines with recruiting. Don't see it, but I could see him walking the sidelines at LSU...I could see that, but I don't think it will happen

Franklin- I don't see it, lost 3 in row...he is well into his maturity years at PSU...that's not a good sign to be dropping 3 in a row leading PSU IMHO

0-4 on 4th down in the red zone and losing by 11 does not sound entertaining.

I am not sure of the exact characteristics necessary at LSU but I think it's important to identify a good fit for both parties when we're talking about a guy responsible for running a 160 million dollar a year organization.

when you change jobs, don't you look to see if you fit in with the culture of that organizations?

I once made a big mistake in my career...the leadership team was not good people and it didn't last.

The coach and his family have to fit in Louisiana and it's thirst to win football games...we want a 10-15 year hire right?

I will throw out a curve ball

Kiffin being single is a plus or minus?

Coach O divorce ended his fit at LSU....

A coach needs a good family, wife support system IMHO...

at the very least it's preferred if I am Woodward

That's a lot of years.

That's debatable, I personally think he would have imploded whether he got divorced or not

He assembled the best team in College football history

he got a big check and a divorce almost at the same time

He lost his players, we have the pandemic, everything went south

He needs great co-ordinators, he didn't make good hires

when was the last time your heard one heart beat from coach o?

I think this is what is dividing a lot of people and I've been weighing asking this question of how long people want the Head Coach to stay.

I don’t want the best fit. LSU needs the best coach. With last two clowns, the bar is low. Someone with intelligence, makes his assistants better, and has self control/stable personal life would be at the top of my list. That would eliminate plenty of the names that have thrown around as well.

Do you think he is the right fit as face of the LSU program?

Great offensive guy, but you can hire an OC for that piece...

In many ways, we need kind of a conservative low key hire, no none-sense...

Kiffin is on Twitter...is that a good thing when you try to keep your players off twitter?

nothing good comes from Twitter...just an example

I am with you, so who is your guy then?

I say 10-15 because that's ideal. 5-7 would be great if we get a championship out of it and keep the golden years rolling

LSU isn't a stepping stone job...it's one of the best in all of football..

but it comes with immense pressure to win, but also a lot of advantages, one being in state talent, more than most!

Agreed. I don’t care who is the “best fit”. The best fit is the one who will win championships. If someone does that then any talk about culture fit will disappear. Just win baby

Staying true to my Top 3 from yesterday:

1.) Rhule - if he can be convinced to pull a Saban
2.) Aranda
3.) Napier

I like Fickel, but he has history with the AD at USC. If he was to leave Cincinnati, believe it would be for that job, not ours.
