Assuming the coach is not Jimbo or Riley, who then?

I rule out Riley because I think everyone would take him, whether he succeeds here or not. I rule out Jimbo because I've seen a lot of anti-Jimbo comments but when pressed on who they prefer I get a lot of non-answers.

I'm curious, Kiffin? Napier?

I'd like Aranda, too. He's a brilliant defensive tactician and he's professional. However, it's unknown how high his ceiling is.

Kiffin
Napier/aranda
In that order

My list would be:
Riley
Kiffin
Napier/aranda

Riley and Jimbo were already excluded. So the other 3 are Kiffin, Aranda, and Napier.

Hopefully Aranda. Two years at Baylor isn't a lengthy track record but it's enough to conclude he won't fall on his face as a HC and the upside is tremendous. The big question mark is can he recruit consistently.

Yepp. My dumbass didn’t read the OP correctly
If Saban is truly coaching for the next 10 years then we are up against the wall no matter what. Give me kiffin who will give you some chances to beat him and at least will field a fun, disciplined team. I think he’s clearly one of the best candidates out there when his only knock is he occasionally does slightly awkaward things.

Whoever it is, this board won’t find him good enough and immediately start looking over spreadsheets and YouTube videos to find a fullback that didn’t block the right guy 4 years ago and have narrowed it down to that being the reason he won’t be good enough to be named LSUs coach.

When you fire someone, you typically look for their exact opposite in a replacement

that's why I think it's Aranda

He's cerebral, prepared, a good communicator and a decent human

In short, everything O is not

Woody follows recruiting religiously and is not going to hire a coach that he has to wonder about on this end

I could get behind all of the named guys so far, but they all have question marks (including Jimbo and Riley). Seems like Kiffin and Aranda are the two so far. They are realistic candidates that could succeed.

I don't see how we get the ND coach. Does he have any ties to LA? Given his age and his situation, I just don't see LSU enticing him.

I can see Jimbo, Kiffin, Aranda, and Napier. I could see B. Stoops and Petersen as dark horses, if they have the heart to get back in to coaching.

Really dislike the idea of Bill O'Brien and it has nothing to do with his time with the Texans.

Man would he be hated.

I might melt more over BOB than even Tucker.

Tucker at least has some upside

BOB era would just be miserable and boring
