GWB has no A&M ties but GH Bush will not have input 
And no word on Tim Cassidy. If Sumlin is hired Tim Cassidy was here in 01-02 at A&M also with Sumlin. So they know each other well
And Brent Z is now tweeting that Strong might be Loftin's choice because of his friendship with UF Pres Machem. Might have had a good word put in on Strongs behalf.
Stallings still rumored to want Smart and lots of other connected people still think Sumlin.
Should be wrapped up within a week IMO. Hopefully Monday at absolute latest

I doubt it. Smoke that we are looking at the Louisville AD. Could be another reason that Strong all of a sudden appears to be the new top candidate

I hope so. My dad knows Cassidy (not very well, just through A&M stuff), and says he is a great guy. I think he is very respected and well-liked in College Station.

I give Bill Byrne credit for raising the profile of our Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Baseball, Track...hell every program outside of football.
However, he was clueless about football at Oregon, Nebraska, and A&M. The only reason he didn't get fired from Nebraska is that A&M hired him away.

I wish I was more connected to know the ins and outs. Byrne didn't hire Fran. Did he really hire Sherman? I don't know. I'm not sure if our AD is responsible for football hires.
His faults were the contract extensions and the money wasted.
Many were bitter that other sports won and wanted more money dedicated to football. I assure you, we didn't lose in football because of a lack of budget

Stallings was on Finebaum today and said he has never told anyone he wanted Smart. Said if anyone were to ask his opinion he would give it but because he is no longer on the board he will not give an opinion unless asked.
