I wouldnt blame him for wanting to leave a team that beats both their #1 ranked rivals and both those teams make it to the playoffs.

Local media Mike Irwin tweet:

Media sources go silent on Sunday mornings in Arkansas. This is the bible belt. Church comes first. The coach search chatter should pick up again around 1:30 pm. #gottagive'emtimetoeat??

Ya frickin Aubtard.

Yep, as someone who Gus isn't my first choice. I'm beginning to care less by the hour and just want to know.

i also wouldnt blame him for wanting to leave a program where the fanbase changes its opinion on him three times every game

Over the last week there have been many Auburn fans telling us to make up our mind on if we want him or not. They are not even sure after last night.

In fairness he did say no telling when it becomes public, he left himself with a lot of leeway.

We should know something today.

I am not that big a fan of Gus, but would not get upset if we hired him. I also wouldn't be upset with Norvell or Kiffin. I actually prefer the latter. At the end of the day, I want to win. Bret didn't win enough for the program. The longest stretch of not even a 9 win season in program history. Or, at least since the 1940's.

At the end of the day, I would rather us hire someone that is approved by 90% of the fan base. I think with Gus, its going to be around 50/50. If he wins, then the numbers shift some. If he doesn't, we are right back in the same boat in 4-5 years and paying another big buyout.

edit: I just got out of church

No sources, but most believe AU won’t match 7 MM.

But good Lord if we're talking about 7 years/$50 million we'd really be locked down with Gus.

What happens when half your state is mad you're paying a coach that much? And not just the people who hate sports, but half the fan base because they don't agree with the choice?

Depends on the quarter.

1st quarter, Auburn 20, LSU 0: "We love Gus. We're gonna win the national championship this year and celebrate at Waffle House."

Halftime, Auburn 23, LSU 14: "Weird how this is still a game. It should already be over."

3rd quarter, Auburn 23, LSU 20: "Does Gus know we keep calling runs on first down, and we can't pick up a first down? Getting tired of this HUNH shite."

Final, LSU 27, Auburn 23: "frick this guy. How in the hell did we blow a 20-point lead? Fire his arse."
