re: Arktards, does anyone have a ETA on Gus’ decision?

Gus isn’t worth $7 million. That’s not because he coaches Auburn, that’s because of his record. He rode a once in a generation QB in $Cam to a natty as OC and got a shot st another with a QB/team that perfectly fit his system that was still a novelty and hadn’t been figured out. He isn’t such a genius now. Save yourselves some money, Hogs and try Norvell or Kiffin. Otherwise you’re just repeating your Bert mistake with Gus.

Never too late, until the contract is signed.
Even the tards on Hogville want someone else now.

Honest question (and no derision from me on your answer because I couldn't wait to get rid of Les Miles despite the win-loss record): How did you feel about Malzahn after the Iron Bowl?

Eh, unless we are pulling some Tennessee riot, it doesn't matter.

What happens when half your state is mad you're paying a coach that much? And not just the people who hate sports, but half the fan base because they don't agree with the choice?
Well...winning changes everything he just better win.

I can get behind that. Both fan bases look split on Gus. I do think as time goes on he will be losing Auburn support and rightly so.

He just finished a season with one of the best and most competitive teams in the country having beaten #1 twice this year both of whom were their big rivals and played current #1 Clemson close on the road.
Auburn easily had the toughest schedule in the country and was a win away from playing in the CFP.
Since being at Auburn as OC or HC, they've had as much if not more success than ever before. I just don't understand the hate.

It's not hate. He's very streaky as a coach. He was one mismanaged clock play away from losing to Lester and losing his job. He's been on the brink of a pink slip several times only to rebound with a few well timed wins over opponents. Is that what you want? Up and down? 7-5 followed by 9-3 followed by 6-6?
All kidding aside, Gus is a good coach, but he's not top shelf, worth $7 million per.

The report of $7.1 million/year at Arkansas might not be exact but it is in that neighborhood, according to a source familiar with the offer at Arkansas.
Gus Malzahn hopes Auburn provides him an answer/more security/a new contract by Monday morning. This could move fast in less than 24 hours, and if you hear Mike Norvell or another coach's name surfacing as a candidate at Arkansas, that likely could mean the discussions have hit a snag or Arkansas has moved on.
Arkansas folks believe Gus would bring Hugh Freeze on board as the offensive coordinator.
Arkansas is also willing to spend a lot of money to draw top-tier assistants to Gus' staff. I don't have a hard number for the pool of cash they'd be willing to spend.
The issue that could hang things up at Auburn is guaranteed money/buyout.
Gus and Freeze would be legit

AU board is saying Gus will let Arky know by the end of the day.
This is what I've heard from some pretty solid folks as well. UofA is wanting to announce tomorrow either way, the masses just don't know who the backup is at this point. Smart money is on Norvell, but they're less than sold on him for some reason. There ARE some skeletons in his closet but they're not as bad as some people have made them out to be, just not 100% sure what they are.

I just want a Yes or No from Gus so we can move on.
