Patriots’ QB coach Jedd Fisch is being named the new head coach at the University of Arizona, per @FieldYates and me. Arizona expected to announce hire today.

Have they seen QB play from that team ?
I mean he can’t throw the ball for Cam. That’s a pretty lazy critique

Another Belichick acolyte headed for failure. Arizona really likes pissing away money on HC's.

Interesting choice. Only 3 years of college experience since 2002.

He’s been in NE less than a year, he’s hardly a Belichick disciple

He’s had a really weird career. Hasn’t really stayed anywhere longer than a season or two and isn’t really tied to a coaching tree like most coaches
Patriot beat writers expected him to take over at OC if McDaniels left so they were high on him but yeah this seems a bit premature for a head coaching gig on the college level. They must’ve really liked his interim stint

Is this a budget hire? Pretty meh hire if he is making good money.

Strange choice. Guessing he was dirt cheap though.

That is certainly something.

Fan reaction is pretty harsh. Reading their 247 board, the mod is begging people not to
Cancel.
Cancel.

The SJSU Coach (Brennan) seemed like the natural fit.
I do remember Fisch being floated for college jobs maybe 2/3 years ago though - the name is not completely unfamiliar but it's still left field.

Arizona announced his hire and that he goes on salary reduction immediately due to COVID.

Wow - the San Jose coach dodged a bullet - he will land a much better job next year...

Read an article earlier today (I can't find it now) and it had a bunch of former players and fans tweets about how mad they are with the hire. People were pissed.

dude has been in 15 different places in 23 years coaching. a true journeyman. apparently he and the school president are good friends. i feel bad for arizona fans.

Yeah it’s quite remarkable. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anything quite like that resume on this high of a level.

Does that make Arizona racist?

Dude played tennis in college, never played football & he’s running a major college football program after having coached in the NFL. I just don’t understand how someone who’s never even played D3 ball gets that kind of opportunity

He might be a bad hire and not work out but
This will have nothing to do with it.
