As much as I like Riley, it would be really stupid to dish out that kind of money on a guy who hasn't proven that he can win a national championship and hasn't proven that he can field a team with a competent defense on a regular basis.
At OU maybe. He can win one at LSU though.

honest question
can Riley pull enough defensive talent to OU in the SEC to continue to be a playoff caliber team? we know you can build a base just from LA alone and then go out to Texas and Miss and AL and GA and FL from LSU HC spot. but can OU get enough out of Texas when UT, TAMU, LSU and Arky are doing the same thing in Texas from the SEC. can OU jump up a level with defensive talent while in the SEC?
I dont think so

That’s the million dollar question… if Riley believes he can, he obviously stays. If he doesn’t, maybe the jump to LSU makes sense to him. Guess we’ll know in a a month or so

Oklahoma has a lot of money....more than LSU

There's some talk but it's in a laughing manner. Lincoln isn't leaving OU.
Oh look another GUARANTEE from and OU fan. I’ve heard those before. Hence why Riley would leave OU, they not winning crap.

I would too if I was a Sooner
I’m not saying it’s going to happen but Baylor fans were laughing as well when it was rumored that Woodward was targeting Mulkey who had been at Baylor 20+ years with 3 NC’s
She’s now wearing purple & gold.

No idea.
But I do believe there are some TD posters who sincerely believe they themselves would do a better job of searching than Scott Woodward.

First off, I very much doubt LSU is offering that to Lincoln. $12 mill per + $10 mill buyout + Coach O's buyout = yeah, right. Not that LSU is broke, they certainly aren't, but that's silly stuff from fake sources. Just because someone wants it to be true doesn't make it true. There are sources on OU's side right now laughing hysterically.

But if it came to it, OU would definitely match. OU has the best AD in college sports.
So we're stupid to think that LR would take a huge increase in salary to come to LSU...we're stupid to want him since he hasnt won a Natty etc etc etc...but if we do offer that much and he entertains it, then your "best AD in college sports" will absolutely match it?
LOL...wow

I think you’re splitting hairs, LSU reported higher revenue and fewer expenses this last calendar year than OU, but they for sure have lots of money in the war chest. One point to consider is that while we owe Ed $6M over the next 3 mos (I believe), OU has huge money owed to the Big 12 to make its move to the SEC.
If LSU wants Riley, it could turn into a bidding war that both schools are willing and able to engage in.

Lol this isn't a thing.
Would only be nervous if we weren't making the move to the SEC already.
I think the opposite, and the move to the SEC would be the only reason he'd consider it. Not saying he will, but that's the only thing that would make sense if he does...

Yeah, that OU is coming to the SEC is the only reason I think there’s even a slight chance it will happen.

Nah they are laughing at us for thinking LSU can steal him
Honestly I would think we had a great shot... If it weren't for the fact he has his new prodigy Caleb Williams.... I can't see him leaving a guy like that tbh. Unless he brings him with him! A guy can dream right

True. Oklahoma has a 2 billion endowment LSU has maybe 650 million and whereas TAF Does have a lot of money Oklahoma has just as much if not more in its athletic foundation.
