Aranda’s intelligence vs his weaknesses

I’m seeing a lot about Aranda’s weaknesses as a recruiter/ QB development/ inexperience etc. All valid concerns.
There is some risk there, as there will be with any hire. I think a guy like Aranda is bound to succeed for a couple reasons:
He’s very intelligent. This may be part of his recruiting rap. Smart people sometimes struggle to relate to less intelligent people. However, he knows defense, and by extension, offense. He will never look at his offense and not know where they stand or what they need to do better. He’ll have a sound defense practicing against them everyday and will be able to evaluate and correct problems with the offense.
It takes both intelligence and honesty be introspective and see where you arelacking and look for help. Aranda strikes me as a highly honest guy (which also may contribute to the recruiting rap). I believe he would be able to become a better recruiter through introspection. I think he would also hire the best avalable people to help recruit the type of players needed to win championships and also develop QBs and run the offense while being able to meaningfully contribute to both sides of the ball.
He isvery detail oriented. I think this speaks for itself when leading a multi-faceted and complicated organization. Every duck must be in a row.
There you go. I don’t know if he’ll be the guy or even if he’s the best candidate, but I see attributes in him that I look for in leaders, and think he would do very well here.

Agree 100% - hope he is our next HC

I really wanted Aranda for interim HC when Miles was fired over O and the binder.

Well, he has beaten the two teams that will be joining the SEC....so there's that.

My top 2 candidates are Aranda and Napier

His players absolutely LOVED him while at LSU and they didn’t feel that way at ALL especially people like Pat Queen when he recruited him.
Google it yourself. I’m not sure why you think he is some sort of savant that can’t relate to people. It is completely the opposite from everything you hear from figs players about how well he is able to relate to and teach them. He is just a laid back cool California dude.
Aranda is proactive when it comes to calling defenses. He wants to be the one in command of the game. As Big Ten Network analyst and former LSU head coach Gerry DiNardo says in the below clip, "Dave Aranda calls defenses like most coaches call offensive plays."

Ignore the parrots.
There's nothing weak about: Marcel Brooks, Kristian Fulton, Kelvin Joseph, Tyler Shelvin, Phillip Webb, Jacob Phillips, Ed Alexander, more of Dave's recruits.
Developed 3* Wisconsin recruits into NFL Draftees.
"weak" enough for the NFL.

I would sell my soul to the devil and have his babies for Aranda. Seriously though, just sick of the bs LA good ole boy system that gets in the way. Have been too patient for lessons learned.

I think his intelligence is overstated because of his stoic demeanor and also having a huge shaved bald melon head on top of his shoulders. People assume there must be a lot of brain to fill all that space in that bald dome he has. It also helps him that we were so used to looking at a potato with a hat loosely placed on top of his head (Les) and anyone with half a brain looked more intelligent than him.
Aranda pooped the bed a few times as DC when he was here.

Well thought out, and I completely agree. These are attributes you look for in leadership.

Aranda isn’t the “sexy” hire, but the reality is, unless you get Saban, Dabo or Urban, there are no other slam dunk, multi-national championship winning coaches out there. In reality, Jimbo hasn’t won anything worth a shite in quite a while.
I really hope they are looking at Aranda, not just bc he beat OU this weekend. He’s a guy that knows the culture of this program and fanbase. He locks down one entire side of the ball—you could rotate DC’s year in and out and know we will be a stout defense. Recruiting may be an issue at first, but if you’re winning and sending your guys to the NFL, you’re going to recruit well here.
Hire Aranda.

Aranda saved Os job for 3 fricking years before 2019 came together.
He beat the frick out of other offenses about 10 times more often then he "pooped the bed."
I'm sure you'll bring up the Ole Miss game or Texas A&M game where Aggy QBs knee was down.
But you won't bring up keeping LSU in the game against Bama his 4 years here. Shutting down Lamar and Louisville. The UGA games, the playoff defense and so on.
