Aranda feels like the easiest choice

Doing great at Baylor. Even in their loss against Ok. State they played incredibly sound ball. LSUs program (mainly defense) fell apart when he left. Offense was fine without Brady. The defense, especially linebacking, has never recovered.

Which is why it isn’t him.

I feel like it's not going to end up being Dave

This process should not be easy. It needs to be in-depth analysis of potential coaches and understanding of how they will run the team, manage the operations, and deal with adversity. I honestly believe that Dave would be a great hire, however, there needs to be a vast amount of due diligence performed. Unless Saban says he is coming, this should not be an easy process.

Guys like Tucker and Aranda probably need 1-2 more years of running a program before you feel very comfortable with them. Need to see them have more recruiting cycles under their belt and see if they can keep winning games over a longer time horizon.
That being said, Aranda's familiarity with the program and the fact he led the defense in 2019 gives him some cred.

Of all the "unproven" guys Aranda would be the best choice. Napier has questions about his playcalling abilities and Mel Tucker has hopped around a lot.

How is Aranda qualified but Tucker isn’t?

What is Mel Tuckers resume as a coordinator?

Don't forget the Big 12 is sinking. I think he accepts if offered.

He's been inside the program for a few years. I certainly think that helps. Familiarity.

I think Aranda and Tucker are pretty close on paper.

As long as he brings his OC with him.

I really believe and have from the start that he doesn’t want to leave where he’s at for this job. Fair or not, new admin & staff doesn’t erase a bad taste in your mouth.

Both are qualified. I think Aranda is a better fit off the bat given his career at LSU, the linebackers he produced, and his defensive prowess. However, Tucker has Michigan state playing really well and I love that he’s endorsed by Saban. I wouldn’t mind either.

Endorsed by our enemy?
Yeah, that’s the right way to proceed.

He's the right choice only with a home run OC hire. Other than than that he isn't a top 5 guy
