No, he's a home run hire. There was a short list of home runs and I'm sure Woodward engaged them all in parallel. He may have had a favorite, but I believe he was looking for a proven, experienced winner who is an excellent coach and can re-establish the culture of excellence started by Saban 21 years ago. There's no question Kelly does that.

I wasn't expecting Kelly, mainly because I didn't think we could pull him away from Notre Dame. In my mind, he was one step below pulling away Dabo from Clemson or Saban from Alabama. This is a great hire.

You know why I didnt like him? Because he wasn't my coach. It's the same reason I hate Kirby.

This is fair, I’m sure I’ll get there

Certainly not gonna let my gut feelings about him color how I predict success or root for our team

Just had to pinpoint why I was a little bummed about a seemingly good hire.

I absolutely loath and despise the vice-president that runs the division of my employer's business. His style is awful. In your face, rough, intimidating.

But, the results down the chain are excellent as the managers and directors below him are great and they have to please the VP, who has the same, never pleased attitude of Kelly.

Everyone hates Sean Payton outside of Saints fans (for the most part). It’s not hard, you’ll learn to “like” him.

I hate the look of my driver but as soon as I see a 280 yard drive down the middle my dislike suddenly disappears.

He wasn’t hired to be PR man or lead in Mass....he is hired to win football games! And he will.

he has always been a prick

I've had this general feeling myself, but isn't that primarily towards the media? I mean, Nick Saban comes off to me as a complete a-hole but he wins games and seems to care about his players, so all is well. Right? I think my disdain, in general, has been toward Notre Dame. I don't mind him being an a-hole at all towards the media - just take care of your players.

You probably liked O because he was 16-27 and thought beating Arkansas and A&M were good enough for hiring him

I’m pretty sure he was part of the nuclear melt in 2016.

I don't understand why he wasn't fired then, and why national media doesn't beat this dead-arse horse now.

The guy held a practice in 50 mph winds and he or someone on his staff's bad judgment got a young man killed.

How can this be overlooked?

I hated Ed Orgeron as a person when he was hired and throughout his tenure at LSU, even in 2019.

He is the embodiment of the cartoon character that the rest of the country thinks everyone from Louisiana is. He is an embarrassment to the state and actually a pretty terrible human being.

And I still got over all of that to root for LSU no matter what the entire time he was on the sidelines.

I didn’t like Nick Saban when he was here. He was a bully that belittled almost everyone he met.

I got over it.

I had to think about this last night. The only reason I could come up with is because his team always won and were in the CFP hunt year in and year out. The road for his teams was always easier, but you can not dispute his record. Listen to a few interviews and you will warm up to him.

The one thing he wants is a National Championship. He came to the toughest division to accomplish that. This speaks volumes no matter how you look at it.

Why don't you like him? I don't follow off the field stuff for other teams.
