Kiffin sends a message of instability to the program. We really don't need that.

This board has sold me on Canada. I'd be happy with him. I be happy with Helfrich too.

This board knows nothing about Canada, starting with the fact that he's not even a "spread" coach.

No reason to have our offense learn a new system 2 years in a row.

Besides, Kiffin is a tard with a cleft a-hole.

No half our fan base wants him gone as well. Lol

I don't know how I feel about him to be honest.

Whether we want him or not, he is undoubtedly a good offensive coordinator.

Personally I can't stand him.

But he does know offense.

Don't get me wrong it would be a great OC hire. But, how long would he even stay here? 1 year then we are doing this again at the end of next year when his name comes up for a head coaching gig again, no thanks!

So your preference is to have a less qualified candidate? Brilliant.

I wouldn't be upset with Kiffin, and as far as the one and done idea, I would worry about that when and if it happens. If he leaves after one year for a HC position, more power to him. We will have the same money available then to hire someone else as we do now, and who knows what next year brings. If you can get a good OC, get him and let the chips fall where they may.

Really don't want that guy associated with our program.

Well he's kept his nose clean at Bama the last 3 years and led them to championships and playoffs, with first-year QB starters every year. I'd take him in a heartbeat, even if there's a risk he's not here long.

Is he a douche? Yes. But that doesn't disqualify him from LSU in my eyes.

I'm with you. I think it's an unimaginative hire.

Most likely a one and done (hurts continuity and recruiting)
Will cost more than any other candidate

LSU could do a lot worse so in a sense its not a bad situation to be in.

From this list of names, which are surefire locks not to come to LSU, ignite a prehistoric, unproductive offense and be a one and done?

Lincoln Riley
Canada
Sark
Briles
Helfrich

I'd say none of them are locks for more than a year.

Briles was close to being in the playoff and is not getting any younger.

Riley interviewed for an HC gig this week.

Helfrich has coached in a natty.

Canada is potentially the next Lincoln Riley or Tom Herman. Hot coach du jour.

Sark has been a HC at a P5 program.

Where are all these guys who would rejuvenate our O, would come to LSU and would be LOCKS to stay more than a year?

fair point

Lincoln Riley - isn't coming here anyway and you included just to make your point. Only one on your list who interviewed for a decent HC gig.

Canada - name just got hot this season
Sark - isn't getting anywhere near a HC gig any time soon
Briles - not going to happen anyway
Helfrich - dude just ran Oregon into the ground. No one decent is hiring him to be a HC.

As hard as it is to believe, there are actually no-name OCs out there that will become great HCs one day.

Who are those guys? I don't know, but a good HC would know where to look for these guys and would be able to astutely recognize their expertise.

I didn't bring any of these names up to make my point.

I brought these names up b/c they are the primary names that have been brought up on this board as options.

Kiffin seems to be O's top choice but you're saying you don't want him b/c he may bolt after a year.

These appear to be our other options or at least who tRant wants.

How are they any better than Kiffin?

Canada's name just got hot this year?

For how many years was Fuente's name hot?

Sark now appears to be off the wagon and not going anywhere. He isn't an option.

Briles isn't coming. No almost certainly he isn't due to baggage and a lawsuit against Baylor now.

Helfrich ran Oregon into the ground. Why would we want him then?

You don't want Lane b/c he's probably one and done.

Who do you want?

None of the above plus no Kiffin.

Who is this mystery OC we will get?

I'm sure this was O's pitch to Alleva:

Listen I know we didn't exactly light it up against Bama or Florida, but dammit Joe.... you give me this opportunity and I will go out there and locate a diamond in the rough. A no-name guy who will revitalize this anemic offense and one day become a great HC.
