The O Line got better all year. I'm excited to see what he can do with a few years and players he recruits (which he's also good at)

Considering that Davis got here in June, the improvement the OL made over the course of the season was pretty tremendous.

Also he was trusted and trained by Pittman to coach OL. That is enormous.

MOST important, he's like a Frank Wilson-lite, but for BR

Davis owning BR and Wilson owning Nola is a combination that is going to be extremely fruitful for LSU moving forward.

People are getting way caught up in Peetz and his complete ineptness at a running scheme. He's certainly a Brady protoge b/c neither can design/call a run game for shite

He came in really late.

Once Kelly couldn’t get his own guy, this was the next obvious choice. He’s on contract so you might as well give him a chance.

I think he will prove to be a very strong recruiter in BR.

He was handed a shite sandwich from Cregg and you can see the improvement with the Oline from week to week. Even with all the injuries

Exactly. Locking down BR (Davis) and Nola (Wilson) are extremely important for a foreigner like Kelly.

It also allows the possibility that our OC isn't required to be a super recruiter in the Brady/Aranda mold

He’s fine. LSU hasn’t had an elite oline coach in decades

He seems like a great man and happy to be here but the O line sucked arse most of the season. Why is everyone happy about Davis staying?

Great OL coach

Tough situation given timing

OL hasn’t been good and looks worse given the scheme past 2 years.

OL recruiting has been dreadful but that’s about to turn a 180

I think it’s a great hire/retain

I'm somewhere in between you, OP, and the people who think he's one of the greatest OL every to be hired.
I'll put it this way, if we could have gone out and gotten a Bedenbaugh or Greatwood, I'd be thrilled. Barring that- I'm all for seeing what the man can do. Many of the posters are correct: it was a terrible situation and he didn't do terrible. We can't judge him yet; may point would be you can't judge him in either direction yet- good or bad. The jury is still out so the default is CBK and what he sees.

And this is a big factor to me. I didn't see a lot of "greatness" in Davis. But just like Burrow/Brady was an enhancement for the 2019 line, Peetz was a limiting factor for Davis and the 2021 line. It all has to work together. It wasn't working together last year and I don't think it was on Davis. So let's see what he can put together on the field and who he can reel in recruiting.
