curious why anyone would say something like this. so if meyer leaves saban wins the SEC for the next 10 years or however long he's there?

No - stay or go, Alabama/Nick wins anyway. Florida/Meyer had no answer for the Tide. LSU will need to prove we can regroup from these last two years fiasco before I can be confident we're a real player again in the SEC West.

so nick saban and alabama will win the SEC every year for the foreseeable future. we'll agree to disagree here.

Meyer is more likely than Saban, I think Nicky actually ends his career at Bama.

Meyer only goes to ND if Timmy gets drafted to the Colts, they cant deal with a long distance relationship

ND is going to offer Urban the bank to get him there, could be interesting.

I can see Meyer bolting for ND with a post tebow era about to happen in Gainsville. Saban stays and continues to carve out his place in SEC history

ND needs a new QB next year also. In a pickup game, I'd take the QB-in-waiting at UF over ND's.

does anyone else think Kelly is a flash in the pan like rich rod?

I don't think this at all...He has turned two graveyards into very respectable programs. I think he does really well wherever he lands up this year or next year.

That's fine with me. I hope LSU does regroup and become the other real POWER in the SEC West. I'd love to be a thorn in Nicky's side every single year. But to do that we'll have to beat Ole Miss, Ark, Auburn, Moo U, UF and whatever other SEC wild card team as may be on the scehedule. If his tenure at LSU is any indicator of recruiting talent and coaching it up, Bama isn't going to be losing a lot anytime soon.

Scoop,

What I think would be funny is for Urban to take the ND gig and then Jeremy Foley to get Saban to go to Florida. I would like to see the Gumps react to that. Then Alabama would go after Les Miles and LSU gets Pete Caroll.

Thats pretty solid. Both coaches (as did Miles, Tubby, and Fulmer) have come to realize the SEC is a meat grinder. Produce every yr or you're gone in 2. They're looking for stability at this point.

12 SEC coaches - 4 natl champions (Spurrier - diff team, Saban - diff team, Miles - 5 yrs, Meyer - 6 yrs) Avg = 4.75

Those without NCs:
Richt in yr 9
Johnson in yr 8
Brooks in yr 7
Petrino, Nutt in yr 2
Kiffin, Mullen, Chizik in 1st yr
Avg = 3.875

Less than a yr between coaches that have won NCs vs those that havent. That speaks volumes!

Other conf & their NC coaches:
Mack Brown 12 yrs
Pete Carroll 9 yrs
Jim Tressel 9 yrs
Larry Coker 6 yrs
Bob Stoops 11 yrs
Bobby Bowden 34 yrs
Tom Osborne 27 yrs
Lloyd Carr 13 yrs
Avg = 15.125

This is more like Sexton's (which, in this case means Saban) handiwork, but I have a strong feeling that you are correct Scoop. Who else could they be trying to throw big money at?

Stoops? Already out there...

Carroll? Maybe, but very unlikely...

A guy who has coached primarily in the NFL? Aren't they cleaning up the mess from doing that last time?

If it's not a sitting head coach (like Gruden, Cowher, or a college coach like Tubby), then which sitting coaches would make a splash, other than Stoops or Carroll?

Mack Brown? No.

Brian Kelly? Maybe.

Mike Leach? No.

Nick Saban or Urban Meyer? You bet your a$$...

I agree totally, but I would put my money on Saban because he is Catholic and has no buyout at all.
