BOL is reporting more coaching news on Monday. It has already broke that Tosh Lupoi will be the new OLBs coach. Kirby Smart is likely to return to ILBs, according to LB commit Josh McMillon. That leaves a spot at DB to be filled.

Mel Tucker was the DC in Chicago the past two years and was a GA under Saban at Michigan State in 1997-1998. He was also Saban's first DB coach at LSU in 2000.

Update: It's official

The guy that teaches his defensive backs to be 10 yards away from the receivers at all time?

He popped up on the Raiders rumor mill as a last resort option, plenty of Raider fans praying it wouldn't come to that and it didn't.

So I think it's a good move for him, when the Raiders are begging they don't land you.

Be a solid college coach I would think.

Did you see his defensive backs this past year? The MNF game against Green Bay was a catastrophe

Again I hate to defend a bama guy, but half of those guys on the Bears defense this year don't belong in the NFL.

Bama fans think they are better than some NFL teams, so I guess those coaches don't belong at bama, either.

After Bret Bielema left Wisconsin for Arkansas, there was a large contingency of Badger fans that wanted Barry Alvarez to hire Mel Tucker... including me.

Many were enamored by Tucker's coordinator and interim head coach position(s) with the Jaguars (at the time) and he played under Alvarez at Wisconsin.

Former Chicago Bears DC Mel Tucker will be Alabama's new secondary coach per sources.
