sure beats a CFL coach.

For a school with tradition like Miami, the fact that they had a CFL coach a finalist for the job proves that they aren't what they used to be.

Would be a good hire for Miami. Especially if their second choice is in the CFL.

True, but may turn out to be a great hire. Golden is a solid coach.

Golden will get the Penn State job when Paterno finally retires.

But it's a hire that can end up paying much higher dividends in the long run than Trestman or Edsall. I still think they should have at least interviewed Gus Malzahn for the vacant position. It was a mistake restricting their candidate pool to just coaches with HC experience.

Even mid level coaches are making millions now. It used to be a few schools that paid millions. Now it seems the Lower Slobovia Tech Institutes of the world all pay in the millions so Coaches don't have much reason to move unless it is to their dream job or alma mater.

Dear idiots, Marc Trestman was the OC for the 49ers, and is a good coach in the West Coast Offense style.

Jim Tressel wasn't a sexy hire for Ohio State, and I think that turned out just fine.

Trestman was a horrible OC for the 49ers. The owner of the team Eddie Debartolo was so pissed off at his playcalling that he actually fired Trestman during a postgame news conference. He didn't even wait a day or two like most teams do when they fire a coach. Debartolo was like "frick it. This guy sucks. Just get him the frick out of here ASAP".

He turned around a horrible Temple team and somehow recruited better talent to the pits of hell in North Philadelphia. I think it's a great hire for Miami. Those that aren't impressed should look at his track record and take a trip up broad street to see the program he turned around.

They are not a good program and will not commit to football like they need too under Donna Shalala.
