Cox had injury problems all his life with his back, he was rarely sidelined for it.

Borges offense here went to dog shite after we lost Kenny Irons and Courtney Taylor. Like I've been saying, if you've got talent, he's a great OC, if not, not at all.

So not sure how the firing of Borges helped Tubby gain another year of two like you said, cause he was fired in 08.

Oh yes he did. Borges was fired before the bowl game with Clemson. Tubbs went with the Franklin experiment. Auburn's offense had grown stale because of injuries to Brandon Cox and a continually declining talent base on offense with Tubbs. Borges took the fall.

Who's the OC at Tulsa?

Pretty creative and balanced

Chad Morris- Trained by Malzahn. Learned Malzahn's offense while he was a HS coach in Texas and Malzahn was still at Springdale, Ar. Malzahn's replacement when he leaves Auburn (I Hope). You can't have him.

This still makes ABSOLUTELY no sense. Like I said in 06 Auburn went 11-2, in 07 Auburn went something like 8-4.

YALL WEREN'T GOING TO FIRE TUBBS AFTER THOSE SEASONS.

So like I've been saying, he may have been a scapegoat but his firing never help gain Tubby another year at Auburn. Y'all were never going to fire him to begin with.

Tubbs was feeling the heat because of the emergence of Saban at Alabama. Why do you think he went with the Franklin experiment? The offense under Borges had grown stale and people were screaming. Tubbs was getting killed in recruiting against Saban and he felt that the dramatic change to the Franklin offense could help him stay competetive against Bama. The Franklin experiment was a miserable failure as was the straw that broke the camels back. That and the 36-0 drubbing by Alabama that year and a losing record. Things had been going downhill for a couple of years. Tubbs could no longer save himself by changing coordinators after that. After this, blood was in the water, the majority of the fanbase was restless now. Tubbs hadn't had the support of the PTB at Auburn for several years. Remember JetGate. Tubbs and his staff grew extremely lazy and complacent the last couple of years that they were here. Finally caught up with them. Chizik inherited a team with no depth because alot of Tubbs recruits never got in school or dropped out quickly. There were many people at Auburn wanting Tubbs gone 2 years before he left. Tubbs changed coordinators several times during his tenure at Auburn. When the heat got on Tubbs, the coordinators took the knife. AKA: Leo Mazzone,David Gibbs, Tony Franklin, Al Borges, Tubb's first defensive coordinator that came from Ole Miss: I can't remeber his name- he also coached d-Backs.

I don't think that Tubbs let Pat Dye tell him anything. I do not believe that they had a close relationship.
Don't get me wrong: I appreciatte everything that Tubbs did at Auburn. He is a good man and ran a clean program. I believe that when he left Auburn, he needed a change and Auburn needed new blood also.

Auburn was 11-2 two years Before he left. And was in position to potentially play in the national title game with 2 weeks left in the season. Until it totally fell apart against a freshman QB at HOME (Stafford) and a mediocre UGA team.

And y'all wanted to fire him then ? I'm sorry I just don't believe you.

I am talking about the last 2 years that Tubbs was at Auburn. What were the records during those years. You are right, during the 11-2 season, Tubbs had the support of the fanbase. Public sentiment by the AU fans saved Tubbs after JetGate and for several seasons after that. I do agree with that. The PTB would have let him go long before but Tubbs had the support of the fanbase for the most part up to the last year. But, there was rumblings the year before that. If everything was rosy, why was Borges fired before the bowl game? Franklin actually came on board and coached in the bowl game against Clemson.

Part of Tubby's issue with Auburn was the pressure and meddling from the old guard. There were strong rumblings that the Franklin decision wasn't his.

How is Frank Wilson one of the most successful Miles hires? Try Pelini and Chavis. Wilson not close, only his recruiting. Average field coach. Hel Joe Rob has done a better job of coaching than Wilson.

Leo Mazzone. Auburn had an assistant coach from the Atlanta Braves as their OC, WOW! His name is Noel Mazzone not Leo. Leo was with Bobby Cox with the Braves for a long time.

Really ? So Ridley our most efficient offensive weapon didn't play RB ? We didn't have two freshman RB contribute in big ways this year either ? After the fumbling problems the first two games, did our backs continue to have struggles, or were they corrected by COACHING.

I know it's Christmas, but you are a stupid frick.

You are correct. Name slip on my part. Isn't he at one of the Arizona schools now?

Well, I think Ridley is a better RB than he was this time last year, and any and all fumbling problems were corrected early in the season. Consider his recruiting ability and I think he's about as good of a RB coach as you could hope for.

This might be true but that's not becauese Wilson is a bad coach. As I've stated, Wilson is as good a RB coach and recruiter as you could hope for. Robinson might be the best hire Miles ever made. He is one of the best ST coach in the country, and certianly one of the best in the SEC.

From an interview with Tony Franklin, Tubs never even met him to do a 1 on 1 interview...he basically had someone call him and ask if he was interested and Franklin said only if he were allowed to run his offense and Tubs agreed...that never happend. Franklin could have beens successful had he had the support of the coaching staff to run his offense but he did not. He said Tubs never got behind him and rarely ever even showed up to practices...Tubs started taking a lot of heat after the Borges firing...but when Franklin came in and coached in the bowl game and the team performed as well as they did with only a few weeks of practice expectations were really high for 2008. The media picked AU to win the SEC...and they completely flunked because Franklin wasn't able to what he needed to do.

and Borges is a great coach...but only with top talent...but that failure for him lays at Tubbys feet too...his recruiting and ability to get recruits on the field hurt Borges a great deal...

not sure how good a recruiter he is. very important to be able to recruit good qb's. richt, jimbo, and long, have been the best at it for a while.
