Do you LSU fans believe that Miles will get rid of GC? Is it another situation like Tubberville at Auburn? Tubberville would change coordinators, I believe that Borges took the fall for Tubberville and it gained Tubby another year ot two at Auburn. But he refused to get rid of certain assistants and it eventually helped cause his downfall at AU. Will Miles let Crowton take him down with him, or does he see the writing on the wall? How do you think Crowton would do if he had an outstanding quarterback?

Borges was coordinator at UCLA and his offenses there were outstanding. I think he was at UCLA when they won the NC.

When did UCLA last win a PAC championship?

Did UCLA ever win a NC in football??

However, I do believe AL Borges to be a major upgrade over GC. And, a solid OC that runs a balanced offense.

Didn't they win one when Toledo was there? I may be wrong.

Heck, I am 56 years old. The only time I remember UCLA being a significant national spotlight was in the mid to late 1960s when Gary Beban was in the running for the Heisman. OJ and USC crashed and burned his chances.

I lookoed it up. UCLA claims a NC in football in 1954, the year I was born. No wonder I did not remember it.

UCLA shared 2 PAC championships in the 1990s before winning one outright in 1998.

You are right, it was a national championship in basketball that they won in the 90's that I must have been thinking of. Big difference in football and basketball.

Well, Miles has consistently hired good assistants, with Frank Wilson and Ron Cooper being the most successful. So with a few notable exceptions, there's never been a clamor to fire asst. coaches. The fans want to get rid of Crowton more than any other asst. coach/coordinator that I can think of.

The Miles-Crowton dynamic is a strange one, as some people say they are good friends while others say they argue over playcalling, which has supposedly been one of the causes for poor clock management. But the main thing that seems to be keeping Crowton alive, at least last year, was money.

He would obviously do better, but that doesn't make him a good coordinator. Cam Newton made Auburn better, Tebow made UF better, etc. With a good QB, our offensive ranking would maybe jump up a good bit into the upper sixties then. Crowton's offense still has major flaws, and I guarentee you that LSU would be better if they hired a good OC.

I attended games at Jordan Hare in the eighties when hundreds or thousands of people would shout:
"Fire Jack Crow". It eventually happened. Maybe you should try this at Tiger Stadium. I saw LSU in person this year and with an offense that team would have been dominant. How good is your talent at running back? Not meant as a flame, but I wasn't impressed with your running game. Running game was really hurt by a lack of a balanced offense. You have got some talent on offense that is not being utilized very well. I think that LSU is one player away from being a great team and that is a quarterback. I guess the question is: With the win over bama and the ten win season, does Miles feel comfortable and secure enough to stay with the status quote?

I would take Borges at LSU in a heartbeat.I'll wait until Miles actually gets rid of Crowton before i get my hopes up about anyone.Heard the rumors of Florida but the popular theory now is that both of their coordinators are alredy hired and are coming from the NFL.Just what is being talked about.I don't know how true it is.

That's pretty much been the thoughts of all LSU fans.

Well, our starter Steven Ridley is 1st team ALL-SEC, so the talent is there. Despite an average o-line and terrible passing game, Ridley put up almost 1100 yards rushing and 14 TDs.

I think that you are right on about your o-line this year. I made the comment during the game that I don't think that I have ever seen as much speed on defense as LSU had this year. It was amazing, great athletes. The difference in the game was Cam, Auburn's o-line and the lack of an LSU offense. BTW: Your punter was outstanding that day. He pinned AU deep several times.
Did not realize that Ridley had those type of numbers this year: great season for him.

Borges would be incredible. He runs a very balanced West Coast scheme and it is just money if the talent is there.

Auburn went like 11-2 in 2006 and had a another solid season in 07 even with Kodi Burns playing QB cause of Cox injury issues.

So not sure how the firing of Borges helped Tubby gain another year of two like you said, cause he was fired in 08.

I have been on the Borges bandwagon FOREVER (or at least the past year lol). He is the absolute perfect guy to be the OC here at LSU. The position coaches do the recruiting so he wouldn't have to worry about that.

Bring Borges to Baton Rouge.

And to the OP its Borges !

Pretty creative and balanced

Uh, no. Kodi came in after Cox was benched as we started 1-2, and after halftime of the New Mexico State game our team became legit with Cox at the helm.

I don't remember Cox going out with injury, and any plays Kodi was in on was situational at best.

...no he was not. Borges was fired before the bowl game in 2007 because our offense was terrible, mainly because of our WRs which sucked nuts. We hired Tony Franklin and our offense was fiya in the Chik-Fil-A Bowl as we beat Clemson. Then, in 2008, our offense was LSU-esque and our team sucked.

Man speedy, you're on top of this.

It would be a slam dunk hire.

I was talking about Tubbs being fired in 08. Not Borges. Why would I say Borges would be fired in 08? When a HC is fired the other assistants are not retained, like Whipple or Cigniti

I can't believe Auburn people thought there offense was terrible and ran off Al. Auburn averaged more points per game the year AFTER Cadillac, Brown and Campbell and all those guys left. Can't remember if Obomanu and Aromashadu were still there, but I loved the way Borges used Mix in the LSU game. He killed us in 05

And Cox had injuries all year that he battled through in 08. I know out of HS he has head problems, not sure exactly what it was. But those kept popping on him.
